Relief from nausea with Zofran

I was suffering from nausea last week following infusions of Keytruda and Lu-177 while in a clinical trial. My NP prescribed Zofran (ondansetron) which immediately relieved the nausea. I wish I had known about it 3 years ago when I had nausea from chemo!

I have learned that you have to ask all the questions. The doctors are so busy thinking of more important things than less important topics like side effects and patient discomforts. I really like communicating with nurse practitioners as I seem to get really good information and recommendations.

I lived on Zofran in 2004 during my chemotherapy. Surprised that it was not prescribed then,.,.... it was the only thing that worked.

My oncologist at Stanford prescribed Zofran and 2 more stronger than that without asking. Any oncologist who does not automatically prescribe nausea meds with chemo should be fired.

I was given a presciption by my RO to avoid vomiting from my radiation treatments. I did not like it and had some somewhat odd but unconfirmed side effects (I cannot confirm it was the Zofran) luckily it appeared I did not need it and and finished the second half of the treatments without it.

I've taken 16 treatments of Keytruda for my lung melanoma with absolutely NO side effects (probably the Zofran)...

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
