PSA numbers on QoL Vacation (copy)

Hi Guys and Gals

I’m ashamed to admit that I can’t make sense of some of the simpler questions regarding my cancer anymore..... this time the numbers! I used to be able to speak intelligently about what I learned here, but with my continued mental deterioration, I would need hours and hours to re-research to get the answers that most of you here can provide me with a couple key strokes!!

Short story is I’ve been off the juice (Eligard) for @18 months. This was to address the severely debilitating cognitive decline, clearly caused by my ADT.

The thought was to start T therapy to see if my condition would improve but I decided to give it some time to see what mother-nature would do for my levels on her own!!! My T started to rebound naturally about 6 months ago which was about 12 months after my last 3mo injection. The rebound of T was accompanied with slight uptick in PSA. Dr thus I were not at all alarmed by this, but the last test (yesterday) is really grinding my gears!!! I see a pattern of doubling and I don’t meet with my urologist until late August!! However, I’m meeting with the Testosterone Therapist (???) Dr (??) Wednesday. He has kind of fought me about waiting and wanted to start the injections.... casting my doubts about him!!!!

11/18. Final Eligard. T=18 & PSA=<0.1

6/19. T=39. PSA=<0.1

11/19. T=107. PSA=0.1 (castration ended)

3/20. T=317. PSA=0.2

6/20. T=390. PSA=0.4

My question is the alarm factor of the doubling of my PSA numbers!! I don’t make good decisions anymore but am still “smot” enough to worry myself sick!! Thats a big part of my retardation!!!

My gut feeling is to abandon the T therapy assuming that the PSA will continue to follow any increases in T.

I know deep in my heart that I will have to make some very difficult decisions in the foreseeable future.... but not now, I pray!!!!

Any quick thoughts by the braintrust out there will be greatly appreciated! I want to be prepared for Wed’s appointment and will consider notifying my Urologist if warranted, as that he is not privy to the last couple of tests (ordered by the T dude!!!).

Thanks in advance!!

Jc

Ps: I’m switching my correspondences over to PC site but still posting here on aPC for this!!! I originally was told by my care team that I had “Advanced Prostrate Cancer” bla bla bla bla! Thus when finding Healthunlocked, I joined this site!!! I have fired many of my Dr’s and some moved on so my document trail is a f-n mess!!! I have been called out for my level of infection based on my updates and am not trying to represent anything that I am not!!! I was here based on what I was told!!!

I believe that my contributions have been applicable / helpful to those here as is what I have taken away as well!! However, to the best of my knowledge, I do not have cancer that is metastasis to my bones. The best my wife and I can recall is we were both told that it was aPC but was confined to the gland but was also told that ERT included treatment to the pelvic area????? It never dawned on me until recently but wasn’t sure how to back out without looking like an a$$hole!!! By the way...... Those guys are both gone so......

Point being, again.... I not posing to be something I’m not.....!! I want to thank those I’ve met here for the wealth of information, support, and a sprinkle of fun during the start of my journey!!! I’ll be next door at PC continuing to make a difference BAHAHAHAHAHA by spewing my wealth of knowledge and what I call humor to those unfortunate bastards!!!!! I have seen a few of you there too!!!

I’ll continue to pray for you and your caregiver’s wellbeing and likely be trolling some, but not posting!!!!!

Signing off

Jc

No need to panic!

With this last test, you are now out of the hypogonadal range. It is the next few PSA results that will show you the trend. Do not be dismayed by your next result. You need a few more numbers to see if the PSADT settles down. Hopefully, it will be >18 months.

Doubling aside, your numbers are low & the increments are low.

Best, -Patrick

To be blunt..... I have no clue!! Not knowing about any options is troubling to me on many levels!!! Falls in line with all the LifeSpan bullshit I’ve dealt with since Dx’ed!!! I’ll deal with that and I kind of feel sorry for my T guy (I assume he’s a Urologist in training(????)) as I light him up on Wed!!!!

As lame as I may sound when posting my shit here, I catch so much that my Dr’s fail to mention!!! Anyway, options are kind of a moot point as I’m 99% sure I am not pursuing this treatment any longer!!! At least at this point anyway! Going to let it ride for a while, kind of in line with Patrick’s comments above!!! At least until August when I met with my Urologist to discuss it further!!

Thanks

I'm dealing with short term memory issues / mild cognitive decline and I've been off ADT for over two years. It's just old age. I am 70.
