Hi All,

I finished the trial two weeks ago. PSA is still undetectable @ 0.06. MO recommended Lupron shot every three months as standard treatment. Starting Lupron shot this Friday and wondering what l am in for?

Can someone please share the effects of Lupron short or Is this the standard treatment after this trial? More information in my profile. Joined this great group a year ago!!!

If the drugs used in the trial were still working why did you stop? As long as you are receiving a benefit the drug company will not stop providing it to you.

It was a clinical trial. And only for 12 months. The purpose was to test the combo of the two ADTs stated in Trial for 12 months nothing more. Thank for your response.

To pull someone off a drug that is still providing a benefit is unethical.

Are you sure that is your trial?

That trial is for men with regionolocal PC who intend to have a prostatectomy on day 85 of 90 days on Firmagon+Erleada+Zytiga+Indomethacin. Did you have a prostatectomy? Why would you have a Lupron shot?

There is a different trial of Firmagon+Erleada for recurrent men who do not have detectable metastases yet.

The purpose of that trial is to see whether a year of aggressive hormone therapy can delay PSA-progression. If that is the trial you were on, you would not begin Lupron until after PSA increases.

You would not get a Lupron shot after either trial. Please ask your MO why he is changing the protocol.

Thank you Allen, I will. He told me during our meeting that he discussed it with one of his colleague that he should start Lupron. I will request for a meeting with him. Thanks again!

He should check with Rahul Aggarwal, the study chair at UCSF, before violating the protocol.

This is the trial I went through. It is 'neoadjuvant', meaning taking the ADT and HT cancer meds. 12 weeks prior to having your RP. It was open to those with high gleason scores, Dx'd with advanced localized PCa (identified by scans).

In my case, they have continued to monitor my PSA which fortunately has remained below 0.03 (their threshold for undetectable). I have not had to take any medicine since my RP. I do deal with (as a result of) a bit of incontinence, and some ED.

Thank you tkalaf, I remembered you mentioned this in your respond to my post about a year ago before I started this trial. Mine lasted for twelve months, which was X4 of your trial. I have called the MO office to cancel the Lupron shot and scheduled a meeting with him. I will keep everyone posted and really appreciate all your comments. I am glad to hear from you Tkalaf and that you’re doing good! Stay safe and blessed!

I have been on ADT vacation for almost 2 years. My PSA blood work has been on .06 for the past 2yrs. Recently PSA blood work shows that PSA up from last test in May .06 to .08 in June and .09 in July. My MO said to wait and monitor it. Does anyone have idea whether to go back on ADT now or wait? Any comment will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!
