Zytiga with/without food ?

Zytiga - fasting or with meals ? I have been on 1000mg + Prednisone for 6 mos on empty stomach, now going on 250 mg Zytiga + Pred taken with fat-free breakfast. Any one experienced with this change ? Side effects better or worse ? Gleason 4+5, PSA now .02. 12 mos diagnosed, 39 radiations, Lupron, Zytiga, Xgeva.

No, according to ON doc, results are same or better.

Convenience is my reason.

That is a mistake. There is a wide variety of absorption across patients. You have no idea how much of the medicine you are getting. How can the results be better?

I was on a drug trial with zytiga and Prednisone. I was first told to take the dose on an empty stomach. About one year into the trial my PSA started to rise. I was then told to take the dose with food. My PSA fell again. I was on in trial for another 2 1/2 years.

Magnus when you say with food - does it mean you took the entire dosage of 1000 mg with food ? or a lower dosage?

No, you reduce from 1000 to 250mg daily when taking with food. Too soon for me to see any difference yet. Next PSA will be interesting.

I quickly reverted to the standard 1000mg with no food after reading the study - it involved only 72 subjects and left the " low fat " breakfast composition and fat content up to the the individual. Looked like poor science.
