PSA down further and starting Docetaxel today

PSA continued to drop from 0.41 to 0.232. Just started my docetaxel today plus zometa and Lucrin ( ADT). Feeling a bit 'hype' after the treatment. Could be the dexamethasone. Managed to get some rest and feeling fine. Oncologist has asked me to stop the Zytiga when I am going thru the docetaxel treatment. Just wanted to hear from anyone on what I should be expecting in the next couple of weeks before my next cycle. Can I continue to do my thrice a week gym as well as daily walk? Thanks

Make sure you take Celebrex with Zometa--there was a survival benefit in STAMPEDE trial--see below:

May your PSA drop continue....best of luck....

That "hype" feeling is most likely the pre-treatment with Dexamethasone. It also really helps a lot with the side effects. It will wear off in a couple days, but they should also be giving you a daily steroid that will continue to help with the side effects. Everything gets better in around a week.

I managed to walk almost everyday during chemo, although I did have to sit down quite often at times. I think you'll have a hard time at the gym.

Yes, keep working out and keep walking. In fact, get as much activity as you can and the more intensity the better. We have at least one member here who ran marathons during chemo, and another that rode his bike to/from each infusion.

Also, dexamethasone made me feel like superman the day after each infusion.

Thanks, Tom. I am also being prescribed with dexamethasone tablet for the next 3 days followed by prednisone. Will definitely stay to usual active nature as my body allows. God bless

Ice your feet and hands beginning 15 minutes prior to your chemotherapy and continuing for an hour after your chemo therapy in order to prevent peripheral neuropathy. Eat ice chips continuously in order to preserve your taste buds. I wear a migraine headache cool cap in order to preserve my hair.

I did have cold pack on both arms and legs as well as chewing ice cubes. As for the hair, I have decided to shave bald next week...A new me...LOL. God bless
