Worsening Incontinence/AUS

Good morning,

My husband had RP almost 5 years ago followed closely by ADT and radiation, due to persistent PSA. After surgery, he was mostly dry after about 4 months. In the last 2-3 years he's become increasingly incontinent. It's not horrible, but he goes through about 2 pad a day. The latest development has been at night. Over the last couple of months, he's had several 'accidents' while sleeping. So now, he is wearing the incontinence briefs at night. He is considering an AUS.

I'd like to hear from people who've had one for a while. Are you glad you got it? Are you now pad-free? How long until the 'wear out'?

Thanks, Donna

I’ve had a AUS for over two years. I’m very glad to have it. I use one pad per day.

I'm wondering if it's normal to still need pads? I'm not sure about the pain and expense if you are still incontinent.

You’ll never be 100% again. The ring sometimes deforms. There was more pain than I expected right after surgery. Would still do it again.

Yeah....that sounds kind of Medieval. I don't seriously he'd go for that. But, thanks for the suggestion. :)

Clothespin? Paperclip? Rustproof staple? Bag clip? Rubber band? Mouse trap? Gorilla glue?

I used it tie it in a knot, now I use a cork.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Adult diapers overnight are made to look almost stylish these days. I prefer them to a torturous run to the bathroom with my junk in my hand hoping for the best.
