Hi everyone,

Good day!

How are you all?

Actually I got so confused of the situation of my husband now, wondering why is this happening to him 😐 I don't understand if this also side effects of 2 year's on ADT or something else??

Is this common to everybody with ADT??

He's acting weird to me it's sounds very strange since I've meet him 9 years ago, We always end up of arguing these last few day's πŸ˜₯πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ and the sad things is after a while he forgot what he said to me so I cannot be mad at him and forced him to remember what he had said to me and made me so mad at him. This isn't fair to me right? But i'm trying harder to understand him all the time because I loved him so much and I feel so sorry for him because i cannot do anything to help πŸ’” him in he's situation πŸ’” πŸ˜” We just end up of crying all nightπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

he is getting he's PSA test these coming Friday so maybe this is also the reason why he is so nervous now.???

Thank you everyone!

Will appreciate all you're response πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Special thanks to those who sent me a private message with good advise πŸ‘ appreciated your effort and help brotherπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ’›

Casey...firstly..Lupron type medicines has a side effect of cognitive impairment and that includes short term memory loss. But, in men.. depression may come out as anger and irritability. So you need him to get evaluated by a mental health professional to see if he has clinical depression.

thank you!

One more point...If this irritability, anger and forgetfulness is due to clinical depression , it can be reversed easily by psychotherapy and anti depressant medicines like prozac, zoloft, lexapro etc. within a few weeks.

This can be a normal response to ADT drugs. I used to snap at co-workers when I started casodex. It passes but it can take a long time.

Hey Casey, so I take it he's been on medicine for 2 years?

First I want to give you some credit for being so self-aware and understanding about his condition and not saying stuff like, "Oh you forgot what you said? Well you said THIS." You would probably feel worse when you make him realize he said something stupid that he didn't mean. You're a good woman. :)

From my personal experience I did have massive mood swings with depression when I was first diagnosed and put on medicine. One thing that really helped me was making things with Coconut Oil and putting it in things like my Tea.

Coconut Oil has a lot of Saturated Fat in it and high fats can balance out your hormones. When I used it I felt normal again and it didn't feel like the world was coming to an end. Don't worry about the saturated fats. The only bad fats are the chemical ones like corn oil and stuff like that.

I apologize for the assumption, but I'm guessing from the photo you're a Filipina? From what I understand, people from the Philippines line to cook. Yes, that is a joke haha. I used to live in Thailand and I dated women who loved to cook for me haha.

It looks like you are in America which is awesome so it shouldn't be too difficult to buy at the stores. I never had issues when I was in Bangkok though.

I wouldn't use a lot of it at first because his body needs to adjust. It will make him run to the toilet a lot.

If you need anymore help, let me know. :)

Matt

Mood swings are common with ADT. Venlafaxine may help with his depression and hot flashes. Estrogen patches may help too.

Small dose estrogen patches have helped me and my family tremendously. I am at two years on Lupron. I added the estrogen at about the one year mark and started to sleep much better. I had been exhausted waking to pee, waking for hot flashes, and taking a long time to go back to sleep. My wife said I was nowhere near as crabby, and I didn't even realize I had been. My thinking cleared considerably. And of course the hot flashes are much better. I may have done well with the venlafaxine my urologist offered, but I didn't want to be taking a drug either, at least before I tried the estrogen, which has the added benefit of being good for bone strenth. I also started taking melatonin that I think is helping with sleep, which helps everything. I wish you both all the best.

I have only ever seen the actual hormone in studies, the estradiol form of estrogen in particular. I don't know about Estoven.

You husband is going through a rough patch and may not know how much it effects you

Some of us get very selfish and lash out at those who we love and love us

Its known to happen

Try to encourage him to get some counselling to help him deal with these issues

I understand it's an awfull diagnosis

And the acceptance stage takes much longer for some of us

Praying this information helps

I’m so sorry to hear of the pain the monster is causing. There are so many issues involved here. When facing the end of time and all the pain involved sometimes it’s all about the crying. 😒😒😒

Yes I agree with both the estrogen patch, helped me tremendously!!! Estradiol 0.10.

Then if it is not all resolved a low dose of anti-depressant. But you should really go with him to his doctor visits with a written list of questions since he is forgetful and reluctant to help himself, which is part of the problem. You are a wonderful loving wife. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’•πŸ‘πŸΌ

As the others have said, cognitive/emotional impairment is an extremely common SE of ADT, and it sometimes takes a terrible toll on the victim's personal relationships. I remember telling my counselor, "I am fighting for my sanity, but I'm losing, and that's perfectly clear to me. If this continues, I'll be institutionalizable at some point in the next couple of weeks."

My wife eventual lost patience with me, and looking back, I don't blame her; I was terrible.

Antidepressants worked amazingly well for me. I recommend getting a DNA test first to determine which drugs will work best.

Good luck.

Hi πŸ‘‹. Sorry to hear about situation. Bear with him. Been fighting this battle myself for 7 years. Meds do weird thing to our minds and bodies. Myself I have a lot of nasty thoughts, pessimism big time. Scariest things for me are panic attacks. Thank God not that often. Crying like a baby over everythingπŸ‘ŽπŸ» Keep it mostly to myself as I don’t like upsetting family. I believe my weird sense of humour keeps me saneπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‡πŸŽƒ. Hang in there and God Bless you bothπŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜·πŸ˜·

Hi Bunkerboy,

Thats exactly happened to my husband, he cries like a baby sometimes, nervous, anxiety like everybody's war.

πŸ˜… he got so mad at me for nothing and telling me to divorced him because he is now useless, he does this many times now.

Hi CaseydelaTor

Please hang in there. Definitely nasty times we are all going through and Pandemic dosen’t help. Myself I have stopped watching the news, too depressing for me, even though my wife watches it and gives me a blow by blow update. Try not to get upset with her for doing this and so far so good. Even with my weird feelings and moods I still manage to keep the family laughing with my wacky senses of humour and anticsπŸ˜‰. Especially my grandkidsπŸ˜‡. So far so good and pray each and every day for the time I have been givenπŸ™πŸ» So be strong and God Bless you and your husbandπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‡πŸ˜·πŸ™πŸ»

I started on sertraline for depression and anxiety about a year ago, worked up to 150 mg/day - I feel so much better AND it has been found to help fight Prostate Cancer. Also talk with a counselor and if you don’t connect, don’t waste your time - find someone else who you click with!

Stay strong!!
