June 2017, urination difficulties, Foley catheter took care of that. Biopsy and diagnosed Gleason 9, Gleason 9, Gleason 9, etc. Stage 4, metastases to bones, so surgery, radiation were out. Lupron "That will shrink the prostate so you can pee again." Nope. Still needed catheter and PSA went from 19 to 45. I'm castrate-resistant. Finally insisted on a TURP and after 160 days got rid of that stinking catheter (they changed it once a month, the first time they took it out you could have heard me scream in Seattle) and now I pee like a 15 year old. Bliss.
On to docetaxel which droves the PSA down as long as I was on it, but started going back up as soon as I went off. Then Xtandi and the PSA continued going up. I'm also Xtandi resistant. Off Xtandi beginning of December 2018, started TRITON II clinical trial Feb. 2019 (rucaparib, PARP inhibitor), off that end of March 2019 since it had no effect - my PSA kept going up. Getting evaluated for VISION clinical trial (Lu-177) on Tuesday. That's kind of the last gasp. If that doesn't work, not much else.
You really have to admire my cancer - it is TOUGH! I've named it Godzilla - one tough monster.
No pain but lots of fatigue. I understand there were studies at MD Anderson and Mayo which showed ginseng can be effective against cancer-related fatigue. Since ginseng is an herbal supplement, they can't make any claims, but I'm going to try it and will report.
Please note ginseng is not supposed to due anything for the cancer but just mitigate the fatigue side effect.
