Prior to seeing it mentioned on this board I'd never heard of Trelstar. I've used Firmagon and Eligard and have certainly heard of Lupron...but my Uro never once mentioned Trelstar.
I see now that Trelstar is an LHRH agonist drug like Lupron and I know that Firmagon is a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist. All work to lower T levels. I've heard claims that Trestar has less side effects...but aren't the side effects related directly to the low T - which all (hopefully) cause?

I used the package insert for the drug when I started Lupron. With Lupron the package insert talks about women using the drug to have multiple births at first because that is what the drug was approved for initially. Go to the part that that talks about PCa in men. There are about 17 side effects.
My first round of ADT i was on Lupron and Casodex. Second round round started with Trelstar and Casodex but Trelstar changed to Lupron when I changed urologists. I felt like Trelstar was somewhat better with SE's. Especially hot flashes. Fewer and less intense hot flashes with Trelstar. I am now on Eligard and hot flashes were just like with Lupron but over the course of time they have moderated quite a bit.
Yes. Add up the side effects of the four, five and more drugs we are all taking and it boggles the mind. It is at the edge of my mathematical skills. Plus, none of this crap gets me high or helps me sleep. And it is all way, way more expensive than heroin. Reminds me of the movie Airplane. "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking."
I know this might sound like B.S. but I've never had trouble falling asleep. I posted this before and you might try it and see how it works for you. When my head hits the pillow I forget all the shit and concentrate on building a log cabin all by myself. I first dig out the foundation and then cut trees for logs, shape the logs and start laying them on the foundation. I never get past laying down the logs, I zonk out. It's all mind control as far as getting to sleep. Since it's all in my mind I can use any piece of equipment there is and for free. Years ago, I remember saying to myself "Looks like I picked the wrong week to START smoking." I was a heavy smoker but I'm glad I gave them up.
Dreaming how I'm going to spend my Powerball winnings does the same thing for me. I never get past spending more than 72 million, I zonk out. Good Luck indeed. And of course Good Health and Good Humor.
I had a 6 monthTrelstar shot prior to RT after RP. Only major side defect was hot flashes. I exercised a lot so no fatigue. 9-10 months after shot it’s finally fading, but still a few hot flashes at night.
