Hi. New here, writing here in regards to my 83yo Dad. He’s been battling PC for almost 14 years! Hearing lots of very similar stories here; His recurrence came back in 2016 as Metastasized to Bones. But last scan many tumors have shrunk. He abides to a no Dairy & Sugar policy, but eats lean protein.
Anyone’s thoughts/research on CBD or THC Pot as a treatment addition to shrinking tumors? He still takes Lupron, Zytiga + Zometa infusions. He’s doing well, but has some memory issues & often has skin wounds from bumping into things while working around house, prob due to blood thinners & age. No pain from cancer yet. Thank you all!

I did 40 gms of CBD oil for a yr, but it didn't stop cancer, PSA kept going up. But I think it slows the growth of cancer and if you are taking Radiation or chemo, it will help with the side effects. I took SBRT following CBD oil and experienced no side effects.
Do you live in a State where it's legal? Even when used with the best intentions, things can get complicated in places where they still treat pot as a narcotic....You don't want to pile too many "supplements" or drugs on elderly people as the effect can do more harm than good..ALL of these things have side-effects and many of those side-effects are not good..
We are in CO where it is legal - I have first hand seen THC compounds help with pain and sleep issues, but there are no long term studies that verify that and my first hand view is simply my experience. No one can really comment on effects it might have on Cancer - there just isn't enough reliable science on the many variables of THC compounds and plant strains. There is reliable science to indicate that THC can interfere with memory and other cognitive functions - so if remaining cognitively intact is important - THC might not be the best choice if he is already struggling in that area. CBD on the other hand seems *less* helpful with pain and or sleep issues, but does NOT impact cognitive function and may help with other side effects of treatment (nausea or dry irritated skin for example) that said there aren't really enough medical studies to claim any real benefits here either (CBD is currently viewed as beneficial in some seizure disorders so I am not saying there are NOT studies or that it is medically irrelevant < just saying there is not a lot of info regarding true effectiveness for Prostate Cancer). I would discuss the potential benefits thoroughly with his medical team - in states where it is legal Doctors are usually pretty open to it, if not down right encouraging - because they see the benefits in patients. I also think that maybe there are benefits to a good safe high from THC that we just don't want to talk about - but who does it apply to if not patients struggling with all this?
I ll talk about it! Breaks up monatomy and makes everyday life just a little more bearable.. That’s my version.
No pain.. Is great...I’m a fan of all canabis products for anyone with cancer.. I’ve used the Rso every day for four years.. most here on HU don’t believe in it fighting cancer. Another canaby website might be more positive about its use. It helps me with moods appetite and pain.. it just depends how he accepts use.. some dislike. At least 60 million US users disagree. I grew up in Nor. cal , Marin County ... we’ve been growing weed since the 60’s .. Everything is readily available in Cal.. If it comforts and he likes it great. Nothing ventured nothing gained.. Peace to your family throughout this holiday season.. Do anything to comfort him.
Thank you. I am only in my 8th year (first 3 no symptoms so no treatment) dxd 2014 Stage 4, 40 bone Mets, G5+4, all 12 biopsy cancer, PSA 200. Prostate 3x bigger than normal. I feel I am doing well PSA 0.58. BUT your note and your husband's progress to date are what give me reason to keep ploughing on cheerfully. Another 6 years and I get level with him. Hopefully he will also get at least 6 more. Party time. God bless you both.
his bumping around the house could be his age, alltimers, demencia
i think it is a good idea. You should have 2 seperate oils (one high CBD and one high THC) 2:1 ratio (CBD:THC) taking 2 hours apart. Beginning slowly, more info on CKC facebook website. There you can get a lot of help.
No guarantee it will work, but there are stories (google Dennis Hill or Alan Park) of healing and lots of cases of slow of growth. In addition less pain, etc...
Helps also minder side effects of chemo or radiation.
My own experience with high dose cbd and thc (several hundred milligrams per day! for 4 months) did not arrest rising psa. I'd say it's more important to see how he feels while using... If it benefits mood or appetite or pain that's good. But I wouldn't push it in the hopes of fighting the cancer unless he enjoys/tolerates it well... And then it's still a hope. But if he likes it now, it may be good to know before he's struggling with pain because it can help reduce opiate use (and constipation) when he gets there ☺️
