I was 60 when my urologist gave me the "good news" and by December of that year it was confirmed that I had Pca. I survived Colon Cancer surgery seven years prior so thought that surgery was the answer and unfortunately it was not, as two months after surgery, my surgeon told me the really good news that my PCa had spread and that he and I would become good friends.
That was 8 long years ago !
I have been very fortunate to have run the gambit of treatment options including the initial surgery, the increasing ADT Treatments, the Chemo Treatments, the Immune Therapy, the Radiation and the Treatments for complications including Blood Clots, Blood Hemorrhage, Blood Infections, Lymphoma and Mobility Issues.
But I am still here.
My bloods are doing well and my PSA is stable at around 3.5 and I have been off Chemo-Jevtana for nine months.
I know that the tumours in my Lymph nodes and Bones will eventually win but I am not giving up and will continue to accept the treatments and side affects as an example to my sons, sons in law and grandsons and yes even strangers with PCa who need direction.
Life and disease are part of the human life cycle and God has made humans with the infinite wisdom to accept the benefits of life with the affects of disease.
Someday a cure for PCa will be found and hopefully my experience will in some way will have helped us reach that cure !
Ride like the Wind !
