Was on degarelix. Took off and PSA OK for 9 months Then everything went wrong and the cancer metastatic. I never should have gotten off.

If I were you, for aggressive advanced PCa I would continue on ADT at least for 2 years before taking a vacation. May be even 3 years. Push the PSA as low as possible and try to maintain a long stable remission by adding Avodart and few supplements and vitamins. However, you have not given the important pathological factors of you PCa.

Good Morning westmoreland,

I have taken Firmagon off and on during my 5 1/2 year battle (please see bio for treatment history). Whenever I tired of the every 28 day schedule and the flu like side effects, I would ask my Med Onc to switch me to Lupron, Trelstar, Eligard, etc. for a break.

I agree with other responders that you should keep ADT going for a while. Dr. Myers always preached continued use of a T suppressor plus Avodart and some supplements to maintain a durable remission.

Best wishes. Never Give In.

Mark, Atlanta
