Missing Zytiga

UPS didn't deliver my meds as promised thursday and closed Friday for the duration of the storm. I will miss at least four days of Zytiga. Can anyone tell me the consequences? I have been on Zytiga for 12 months and doing well. Should I continue the prednisone?

Yes, You have to wean off prednisone when you stop, so do not stop, I take prdnisone 5mg and I am not on zytiga its ok, you should take your prednisone. and always order early zytiga

I wouldn't worry about it. But keep taking your other medicine as usual.

After a year on zytiga my oncologist just took me off zytiga. She told me I need to wean myself off 5mg prednisone I take daily. Over the next 6 weeks I need to take a half pill prednisone to get myself off it. She told me that the zytiga is going to take 45 days to leave my body so I don't think missing a week of zytiga will as bad as u think. My oncologist at memorial Sloan Kettering had two doctorates under her belt so I trust what she says. The big bummer for me is that I had stocked up on my zytiga and I have two full bottles that I can't send back. 3 months from now if my PSA goes up she is going to put me on xtandi so I'll never be on zytiga again.

Are you in a support group or local forum? Maybe someone else could use them.

MY HUSBAND was taken off Zytiga for 30 days because he had to have surgery and the required prednisone would've caused excessive bleeding....without consequence.

they didn't seem too concerned about the prednisone, either. they stopped it cold turkey, too.

i think he had a 20 point bump in his PSA that went down once he resumed the drug. but, his PSA was in the 200 point range, even on Zytiga, having come down from 999 before Zytiga was available.

I had a 16 day gap when the Zytiga shipped to me in Thailand was impounded ("no import license"; it's fine if you bring it with you). My PSA went down. First I thought it was the warm sun. But my med onc said it was the Zytiga in my bloodstream. I'll bet you'll be fine.
