Friday I will receive my first delivery of generic Zytiga (Yonsa). I have great insurance, Zytiga only cost me a 50 dollar copay. Zytiga is 13K a month without insuranceš®.
I donāt know how much Yonsa cost but the copay is only 5 bucks.
This is GREAT NEWSššā¤ļø for many men that canāt afford Zytiga.

Yonsa I believe was approved as an alternate drug and not a real generic because it has a unique formula and delivery system The cost I saw was about $9000 a month so you are getting a great price break. I believe it requires a different steroid than prednisone so Iām sure your MO briefed you on it.
Itās so much cheaper for me than zytiga! I wonder if my mo will consider switching from zytiga? This is great news. I do worry about the different steroid and itās effects? Advice?
Likely that steroid side effects will be similar. You can Google Yonsa for a ton of info. Yonsa is not a generic but an alternate to Zytiga and is priced slightly less. The generics out there are about 1/3 the cost. Since Yonsa and generics are new there will be some confusion about pricing for a while.
Not a generic, Yonsa is a less expensive competitor to Zytiga with a similar formula of abiraterone. Both are taken with prednisone. Link here explains: biospace.com/article/sun-ph...
Thanks Jim. Iāll update you when I receive my new medication on Friday. I just assumed it was Yonsa. I donāt know for sure what I do know is I am getting a generic version of Zytiga. The pharmacy rep did say the drugs name is adiraterone but not Zytiga.
first this new drug acording to thed paper i wrote its NOT A GENERIC DRUG FOR ZYTIGA. from what i can read in Jan 2019 its going to be available and when my CVS opens up in the morning i will see if its AFFORDABLE TO PURCHASe thru insurance plans and its cost effect.
My thought are zytiga is just raping the consumer and I would like to switch just not to support this bad behavior! But wondering if Iām being unreasonable ?
Yonsa is not a generic is a bioequivalent. I did some of the studies on it. A corticosteroid is a corticosteroid whether its prednisone dexamethasone or methylprednisolone just different potencies. Yes zytiga is the most expensive but if ur mo is doing their job appropriately johnson and johnson has put millions of dollars into copay card programs and free drug foundations so most of my patient pay nothing or $10 a month. Sun pharma (yonsa) or the generic may be cheaper to insurance company but may cost more for patient out of pocket because no programs like that
Any medicare patient with income (based on social security award letter ) of $89,000 or less should qualify for free zytiga ( but again no program currently for yonsa or abiraterone generic) because foundation funded by pharma. If non medicare thrid party payers then a patient should qualify for copay card $20. So very few patients should be paying more than that unless higher income
How do you get the free Zytiga? I am on Medicare and I could get free Zytiga via J&J after spending more than 4% of income on medications. That would be about $3,600 @ $89,000 income first. Is there a better way? I would appreciate any lead.
PAN and PAF foundations. Every couple months they are funded by pharma and within a day or two the funds are depleted . Cancer center such as mine check daily and when open we may enroll 10-20 patients. The money is then secured for those patients for the next 12 months.
Hi. Please give me an update about your PSA after taking yonsa because I was also considering it for my father because we cannot afford Zytiga. Thank you
who told u there is generic zytiga i found none and for 50 bucks where the cost is 10,600 your sure someone isn't pulling your chain. i have insurance with supplement insurance but there isn't any zytiga so why not let us get some dude. i heard some is made in saudia arabia but that hasn't been confirm and we know its not made in the usa
I donāt think yonsa is what my pharmacist is talking about. Itās only a small amount different. Iād think a generic would be much cheaper. For some reason they would not tell me what it cost until my next scrip is due and for me thatās December 18. Itās on their shelves now. Hope it isnāt yonsa.
50 dollars a month is my cost for Zytiga. I have excellent insurance (healthnet) yesterday avella called and said there is now a generic version of Zytiga. I decided to go with the generic. It will be delivered tomorrow.
The pharmacy said if I want to stay with Zytiga it would now cost me 800 dollar copay.
Thatās because of the new approved generic version.
Iāll let this thread the name of the drug tomorrow
Seems to me you should have been able to stay with the Zytiga at $50 mo. Nothing changed there! But now there's a generic so we are going to force you to change unless you want to pay $800 for what your were getting for $50 and still should be able to get for $50. Like having a gun poked in a cancerous rib and the mobster saying "This is how it's going be" . Sounds like a lotta people on Zytiga will also have these unforeseen consequences. Luckily I'm on Xtandi. (That's a joke son.)
That is great. Best of luck! Unfortunately my father had a terrible allergic reaction to Zytiga that prohibited him from continuing with it, and it cost $5,000 a month. He just finished his six rounds of chemo as the alternative and other than chemo side effects things are going well.
Well, of course, my husband just became resistant to Zytiga after 3 1/2 year of paying the premium for it .... just our luck!!!! Now on Xtandi .... even more expensive!
da u think they can't afford it 10,600 per month so where do we check this out. my zytiga comes from cvs pharmacy should i call them and see what they see.( their located in seattle wa).
Yes Charles i also have CVS in New Jersey. I pay $80 a month for Zytiga with my insurance. I can get the genric for $10 a month. Gonna stay with Zytiga till i know more. Hopefully more genrics will lower price for everyone
