Was diagnosed in 2011 with Gleeson score 7 3+4 .. PSA 6 treated with Brachytherapy under a Urolgist ( privately) and MO at Public Hospital who work together. Result was good PSA .o1 and no incontinence .Took till early 2016 before felt really well and put down to testosterone finally back to normal levels. In 2014 was in complete remission. Late 2016 PSA was 1.6 , gamma pet scan showed nothing,, then 2.3, now 5.2. Bone scan shows nothing , but MO advised suspicious spot on sacrum showed up in second gamma pet scan along with increased back and leg pain has to treat as stage 4 incurable and started on ADT (Casoudex tabs & Lucrin Inj after 1 month) Urologist opionion of scan results differs .. localised small area in prostate only .. ?? Suggested radiation treatment. Thinking I need another option, but reluctant to go elsewhere as these guys have been treating me since 2011.. I have type 2 diabetes and chronic back pain from injuries back when I was in my 30's .. In about to turn 67 ..

Hey there, I live in Perth, welcome to the group. I'm age 50, diagnosed in April 2016, with multiple bone mets. This group is awesome, some great information and great advice. Cheers Paul.

Im from Perth too just live in the UK which coastal town.

I guess you have the 2 options radiotherapy or a Prostatectomy not sure if they would do that after Brachytherapy though.

Second opinion from another Oncologist couldn't hirt.

Keep in touch.

Roght now you you are being treated for pas reccurrence which is ok. Always difficult to locate the cancer. You can add pelviic rt at this poin but then your never sure thats where the cancer is.

Sorry for the issues you are having.

My only advice is to get a second opinion from a medical oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer.

Best of luck!

That is tough to deal with -- to get treatment which seems to have worked only to see the disease come back a few years later. I am in the early treatment phase and would like to think that the cancer has been defeated but there are so many stories like yours. Treatments keep getting better and there are many who were stage 4 at diagnosis who are leading good lives many years later. This is also why I will remain glued to this discussion board -- I want to be educated for when things take a bad turn.

You are in a good spot to have caught things early and not let things get away, having local therapy and then on reoccur to catch it at such a low psa. There are studies that show improved survival after pelvic radiation, suggesting first place it would go is to the pelvic area. When doing one time radiation, I think iot very important to search out the best in this field that it is possible for you to get to.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and advice. I have apt with Urologist mid August and due then for Lucrin Injection. keeping active , only SE of Casudex so far are hot flashes, frequency and broken sleep. have lost a few Kgs. Feeling more positive and will be seeking a second opinion.

To Lifesabeach and anyone else in Perth or Western Australia I highly recommend Simon Troon at Hollywood specialist centre, top guy.

While I’m struggling with the Lucrin and Enzalutamide hangover it’s working and Simon is all over it.

The enzalutamide is a killer by way of fatigue and lack of motivation,, expect all others are finding that as well but what’s the alternative?

I’d like to know if anyone has had surgical castration and how did it work for you.

Best wishes to all less fortunate than me.
