back to my original question. Is SBRT the right way to go? will the cancer load be reduced so I have a chance for the drugs to work or am I just resistant to Xtandi after only 9 months
IDK if whack-a-mole accomplishes anything - the jury is still out. I do know that hormone therapy works. If you want to zap 'em, and if it's safe to do so, why not? But don't be deceived by the lower PSA to withhold hormone therapy.
I realize that the jury is still out on SBRT , wack a mole but I fear I don't have enough time for the jury to come in. I will stay on ADT and Hormone therapy but having the drugs losing their effectiveness in such a short time is very very unnerving
For info I have been on Zoladex since 8/21 and Zytiga since 1/22. I find them tolerable. They seem to have halted met growth judging from scan compares, so far at least.
I am at a similar point for that decision. I think I am at the wack a mole point but the idea of having lesions on my upper spine makes me want to knock them down if possible. I might think differently if they were elsewhere but thats just speculating. I am also off ADT and coming back on after first recurrence so want to start with as clean of a slate as I am able and this is all my PET scan could find. My RO told me about a new machine being developed. A PET scan/ radiation delivery all in one. The PET scan would find the lesion and apply radiation to the lesion at the same appointment. He said this is wack a mole of mets is becoming common with other cancers as well. So I guess from what little I know, if its safe and insurance/state will pay why not.
After experiencing my third recurrence, I am scheduled for another PSMA scan at City of Hope in Duarte, CA next Monday. I have also been asked to participate in a study where I will have a second PSMA scan on the new RefleXion PET CT/radiation machine they have on the same day if any mets are detected on the first scan. Although this new machine has been approved for use on lung and bone mets for other cancers, my radiation oncologist is hoping this study will help lead to FDA approval for its use in prostate cancer. Google RefleXion.com for more info in this new machine.
That makes sense. I would love to hear how that goes. Even a better a pic of the machine if your able. Sounds like science fiction compared to how things were when I was diagnosed.
