Does anyone have this issue at work?

I have one thing to do, and one thing only, and it feels like I can do more things but nobody likes to show me how to do anything . I feel it is because of my ADHD. It's like it is easier to leave me on the thing I know than to take the time to show me something else. Does anyone ever feel this way?

Hi there! I cant relate exactly, but I can say my ADHD has significantly affected my work life, I believe. My issue is I have a difficult time remembering lots of details and I feel that coworkers get frustrated in probably having to remind me often.

Can you try making a reference binder for yourself with dividers for bullet pointed notes on routine procedures? Those little half-size binders are great for that.

I had this issue at my last job, but then I would be in trouble for not knowing. It really sucks. One way you can advocate is to email your supervisor and directly request training if you know what you are missing. Though easier said than done, you can do this. Write a draft first then before you send it, check on it at least an hour later for the wording.

In addition to what the others have said, I recommend that you keep a record of your communication with your supervisor and others about your request for more training.

I didn't keep a log of my attempts to resolve issues involving my supervisor at another job, when it might have helped me to do so.

I suggest that you create a Word document, noting the date and time of your request, who you talked to, a brief mention of what their response was, and when/how to follow up (and who to follow up with, if you need to reach out to someone else).

Hey, I think I saw one of your earlier posts, but I just wanted to say I really feel you on this. I’ve had similar experiences with ADHD, where it feels like people just leave me in one spot instead of helping me grow. Try to open to your therapist, and try to see if their tips work! You’re definitely not alone in this 💛

Hi! I have a tip to add. Write the email. Then open your preferred AI chatbot and ask it to edit the email so that it is professional in tone. Copy & paste your email below that command. Then, before sending that edited email, read it and be sure your main ideas & info are included.

Personally I prefer to use the free version of the Claude app to edit important messages and emails. It's a must-have app for me because my writing style is extremely casual and descriptive. That's fine for most things but not for communications that are "on the record".

I wish for your BEST outcomes! 🤞🏼🍀
