They say that there's a fine line between genius and insanity. I'd love to know who They are; I'd correct their ass. There's a WHOLE lot of overlap.
So I like to make use of my intelligence, both academic and creative. My big thing is art, in many forms, the present one being carving and making bushcraft gear. People love my hiking sticks and pipes and it's not hard to make a sale, or more often a trade, or more often still, a gift.
Tourist season is a couple months away, so to satiate my restless hands and concentrate my focus I'm right now working on some pipes for a store that I deal with.
So what kind of things do you do when you go to your Happy Place? The laws of probability tell me that I'm not the only one here who has hobbies. They also tell me that I'm not the only showoff on the internet, so if you want to show your stuff to everyone, I'd like to see it.
Here's a pipe that's almost finished. It just needs a coat of linseed oil.

I love singing and dancing around the house. 🤣 I’m a paper crafter. I make cards, books, and other things to bless people. I’m a brand new butterfly momma! 🐛🦋 I will attract butterflies through the plants to leave their eggs, collect and protect the tiny caterpillars, feed them, and then release them after they come out of their chrysalises. I have hope. The butterfly symbolizes my hope.
Awesome! A kindred spirit. I’ve been making things for a long time. We should talk. I know a LOT of techniques that I can share for you to enjoy and have fun!
I ditto your comment..I do all those things except for what you do with butterflies..I Love butterflies though..especially white ones🦋🤍 Even though my name here is Brodyboy, I’m female and that’s my dog’s name🐶😊
I forgot ask you if this was a ceramic pumpkin or a real one. It’s just so beautiful, I wondered how long it could be kept in a real pumpkin. You arranged the succulents so nicely.
Very good job. I'd use the middle divider for a shelf personally. Junk always accumulates to fill available shelf and pocket space, and I accumulate a lot of junk to shelf and pocket.
Would you like to share more of your amazing wood projects. You can do a wide variety of things. I love looking at the creative side in others. It’s a good, positive for us to share!
More artwork please! I can’t draw stick figures well. I can quill, and do tons of other paper crafting arts. You can actually create beautiful art! Way to go!
🥰 thank you! I've just painted this today. I'm happy with the way it turned out despite having to cut an old wall painting brush to do the blue leaves... I need new brushes when I can afford them!
Snow scene with tree with blue leave in forefront.
Well then. I get engrossed with drawing, crocheting (difficult pieces), playing the piano, creating resin art pieces for walls, let me see if i can Attach some pics!!!!
Dang! I crochet as well. No one ever made anything like this in my circle. You have a gift. It’s the hyper focus power isn’t it? This is fabulous. It looks hand weaved.
Extremely hyper focused. As in can’t put it down to do anything. Else. Can’t hear people around me. But i also Have tons of projects that i cant Complete. Also i can Only focus on crocheting during the winter for some reason. Ha. Anyway. This is call mosaic crochet and I fell in love with it the moment i saw it!!!!
Thanks. It's one of a dozen things I like to do to keep my hands moving in a productive direction. If I don't I get edgy and find unproductive things. I like this way better.
Having a rough time with the adhd today. Making wrong turns everywhere in town, forgetting things I wanted to bring with me, not noticing flashing lights at crosswalks, all in the plural sense.
But anyway, I made $55 on a hiking stick and made it home alive so all turned out well.
A friend is going to be at a farmers' market in a couple weeks and she asked me if I had anything ready to go.
Hmm... lemme see. Yup. A whole line of pipes. I'll leave some unfinished as hillbilly pipes, put a finish on others and do carvings on some of the bowls.
I just finished my latest project with a coat of paint, so now as it dries I'll show it off.
A crossbow has been on my Things To Make bucket list for a while now and I took two weeks to design and make one. It's just for target practice, flinging darts about 60ft with a good shot.
It's made from household junk like old blinds, a broken rake handle, wire coat hanger, a clothespin, stuff like that. There were even two pulleys on the blinds so I made it a compound.
When we get some good weather I'll start concentrating on a good dart design for accuracy and distance.
