Hi. I keep hearing that 'typical' organizers don't help someone with ADHD. Have you all found something that works for you? Time blocking doesn't really help me much, although I do lose track of time too.

Thanks :-)

I've tried multiple organizers, other tools, productivity or time management systems. I haven't found anything that works for me.

What I have found that helps me is to use alarms and the note app on my smartphone (Google Keep), which lets me set notifications for notes. It's not perfect for me, but it helps me more than anything else I've tried. I always have my phone with me.

The app also lets my organize my notes using labels. I can add pictures and checklists, too. Plus, it's searchable. (Unfortunately, my note app has hundreds of notes that I don't need anymore, but I don't often go through and delete things.)

I keep trying to cobble together my own system, based on systems that I've liked created by two fellow ADHDers:

• Ryder Carroll - Creator of the Bullet Journal method

• Dave Crenshaw - author, professional speaker, and a trainer on LinkedIn Learning (he had to invent his own system, because of his "off the charts ADHD") - his "Time Management Fundamentals" course made more sense to me than most other systems that I've tried to learn

What I've learned from a presentation by Dr. William Dodson, a psychiatrist who has been treating adult ADHD for over 20 years, is that we need to each put together our own "ADHD playbook".

When you find something that works, make note of it and save it for later; it may stop working for you for a while, but then work well for you again in the future.

There's so much variation between people with ADHD and what works or doesn't work for each of us. The fact of the matter is, you need to use what works for you. It may not work for someone else, and their system/method/tools might not work for you.

I've also seen some great lists of folks online (Youtube, etc) that work with those of us with ADHD.. Check that out too!
