When I was first diagnosed with adhd around 2007 in my 30’s, the first and only medication I tried was Concerta. It was the most amazing feeling in the world. The chatter in my head was almost nonexistent. I felt calm and “normal” for the first time in my life. I stopped taking all medication’s around 2012 to have a child and never got back on anything for years. Fast forward 20 years, now facing menopause, I’m struggling pretty bad. I sought help and a fresh diagnosis along with therapy with both a psychiatrist and a therapist. So, of course, the first medication we tried was Concerta, it did nothing to improve my focus or forgetfulness, and it made me very irritable. It was devastating! I’ve since tried two or three other medications with no luck.
I was doing some research today and found out that the generic for Concerta that is available now is no longer equivalent to the brand, regarding its delivery process. They were equivalent back in 2007 when I first took Concerta. There currently is a pharmaceutical company named Actavis that does carry the identical generic to Concerta and they’re both made by the same manufacturer but that’s not the generic I was taking.
Has anyone else experienced this?
