When you live in the past, your mind will think of all the memories of the past because the past has become an experience. This makes our mind loud.
If you look into the future, you'll 'dream and imagine' what it can hold, because we 'make believe' there is a future. This makes our mind loud.
When you live for today, the hour, the moment, right here, right now, your mind will quieten down.
Why? Because right here, right now, is the unknown and we have no idea what the unknown is.
You've never been here before. This day is the first ever time you've lived in this space in time.
We relate today to yesterday, the day before, last week, last year and even our childhood because we remember today as being similar to those days. However, relating today to other days is 'living in the past!' Today may look and feel the same as any other day, but, right here, right now is brand new.
When we think with ADHD, we dot the I's and cross the T's in the way we've been taught, and we relate everything to our previous experiences. Our previous experiences are 'the past', the past is our memories, and when we think with our memories/experiences, our minds are loud, and round and round it goes.
'A' trick/strategy/technique to consider to ease the sound of our minds, is to plan just for the next hour. Planning is step one. 'Doing' is step two. Look no further than the hour ahead.
When you 'do' your plan for the hour, and live in the moment, for the hour, you'll notice you can't think of much else other than 'doing' your plan in the hour. Thus, switching off our loud, ADHD mind.
You're still in the unknown right now, and you don't know how your plan will turn out because it's in the future and can only imagine. The only way to find out how it goes, is 'do it'. Don't think, 'DO'.
Then progression occurs 🙂
All the best. 👍
