I am struggling so bad. I took adderall 30mg XR in high school and then allowed myself to get depressed and stopped taking it. I’ve been taking steps to getting my life back together but can’t get out of bed without medication. I really need a prescription, hopefully asap like Telehealth or something so I can get my life back. Im kinda broke I don’t have much to spend on like “done” or “cerebral’ my insurance is BCBS of tx with secondary Medicaid Aetna better health. Any advice? I’ve recently tried straterra bc of the stimulant stigma and im bipolar so it didn’t work out. I was so sleepy and moody. Tia. Ps im new so I hope im doing this right!

Used to take adderall in high school, 29 looking for immediate help online
Online doctors are stopping their prescribing of Adderall and other Schedule II drugs online. The DEA is investigating several companies for this practice. Before the pandemic. It was against the law to prescribe Schedule II drugs to anyone a doctor had not seen face to face a Schedule II drug like Adderall, Ritalin, Dexedrine, etc. The law temporarily changed due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, some businesses have taken advantage of the temporary change.
Have you looked into free and sliding scale mental health clinics in your area ? Also look into Federally Qualified Health Centers.
If you have Medicaid and your health services are covered in full due to your income, you can just go into your online member profile through Aetna, find an in-network provider who practices family medicine, or a mental health nurse practitioner works too, then schedule an appointment to discuss your concerns. If you receive a diagnosis of ADHD, they can prescribe you the appropriate medication and call it into a pharmacy of your choice for pickup. As long as the provider prescribes you the generic, which shares the same active ingredient as their brand counterpart and works just as well, then your prescription should be covered by Medicaid as well so you wouldn't have any out of pocket costs.
You can do this through BCBS of TX since that's your primary coverage too, and just pay the appropriate copay or coinsurance for the appointment and prescription.
I hope this helps.
I have been to psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, general practitioner, nurse practitioner, etc. I had the absolute best luck with psychiatric nurse practitioners that specialize in medication management. I see one once a month and I pay my co-pay because I have good insurance. If I didn't have insurance, I believe she would charge me a self-pay rate that would not be so bad. There is a CHADD card to save money on these medications. Also, to save money, I would check your state laws to see how many days supply you can get for a prescription. I know if I was in a bad money situation and had to self-pay for medication, my NP would probably make me see her once every two months and write me 2 scripts for 30 days for each script. Hope this helps.
