URGENT HELP

Hi,

I'm meeting with the psychiatrist tomorrow and really need to give him a clear answer, as the appointment is short and very expensive.

I am currently on 40mg of vyanase. this is not nearly enough for me, and symptoms are bad. would it be appropriate to be on this and then get some short releasing medication, such as Ritalin that I've had before, when the ADHD symptoms are particularly bad? if so, how much?

please help me, Im really stressed

thanks

No need to be stressed Amie sometimes you just aren't on the right meds or dose and you need to change things up, it happens to most of us at one point or another you're not weird or anything.

I would suggest you write down your question so if you get nervous or forget you can have it ready to go right there with you.

I would just keep it very simple and say something like this:

"I am currently prescribed 40mg of Vyanase however I am not seeing any noticeable change in my symptoms. I would like to explore other medication options such as supplementing my current prescription with a quick release medication like Ritalin which I have taken in the past and had positive results with. What are your recommendations as my provider?"

The doctor can tell you if 1) this is a good idea and 2) what mg would work best with your current Vyanase prescription or 3) If you should just switch to a different med entirely.

Good luck and know I'm with you in spirit! 👍😀

Completely agree with HeyImNotCrazy. I started writing something, saw this and realized I was writing the same thing but not as well.

The Psychiatrist is on your side, and can do more to help you than anyone here with this. So be completely open and honest with your thoughts. And then let us know how it goes. You got this.

Excellent advice to write down questions and practice how to word things. Very helpful and encouraging for anyone who needs to get further help 🙌🏻

I would be reluctant to add any additional medications ! there are side effects of every medication - Try mindfulness , ADHD groups , and ADHD coach, more sleep, more exercise, and frankly sounds like it is more anxiety than ADHD - anti anxiety meds PRn ( as needed) maybe

I respect your opinion. There are people who require medication. I would encourage those people to get professional help that is appropriate for their body. What works best for one, may never work for another person. I choose to not take stimulants because of my age, and potential cardiac risks. It doesn’t mean that it can’t be safely prescribed and monitored by a medical professional. I don’t EVER want to discourage anyone in doing what is correct for them, because others choose not to follow that course of treatment. Let’s all ENCOURAGE good choices through medical professionals.

i agree with notflighty. All members of this group will benefit if we all resist urge to try tell people what to do. 75gal, im sure your intensions were pure but you literally just assumed that the member wasnt already doing all the things you listed- groups meditation, etc…. thats a very big assumption! the member asked how to advocate for themselves for medication- they didnt even ask for the lifestyle tips and warnings. ❤️. im sure u meant well.

I don’t have the answers. I did pray for wisdom and courage, and favor to be upon you. I asked the Lord to use the doctor to safely and effectively treat you! I pray for inner peace for you, as you seek what further help you need. Remember, you are paying for a medical service. Be matter of fact, yet nice in tone of voice. You CAN do this! I’m cheering for you!
