Another post, by Purplefuzz, gave me inspiration to try and visualize what is going on in my brain during the "ups and downs" of our cycle.
I would love to be able to look into my own brain and see my exact neurologic construction to understand the origin and flows of this cycle better.
This lead me to make this drawing to gauge how it seems to work in me.
Ofcourse, we are all different, even amongst our own "group" ( while groups generate a sense of belonging, I do believe we should find a balance more centered.) So this could make sense to you, but you could also look at it and say this is not it at all... or that your waves peak at other times.
So see it as a guideline... a tool if you will. Move your peaks, adjust your funnels and the amount of clutter.
See what I think this little revalation could help me with is the way I handle those ups and downs.
I have for a long time been in doubt of how the medicine works for me... if I should even use it. Maybe its not a question "if", but morr a question of how...
Imagine medicating just before and during a peak in focus... you will boost the already high focus, but risk it going too high.
Why do I say risk?
Because for me personally, I dont perceive the current state as much as I perceive the contrast between the high and low points.
A strong high point illicits a more dramatic low, even though the low could be at the same level as the last cycle.
So, by becoming aware of our personal cycle, could help us get a more even flow, a more balanced cycle.
I know it feels amazing the times we hit the super highs of 10, but are they worth it? As compared to then experiencing a contrast of 15 between high and low... when you could have a very nice and functional peak of 5 and only experience a contrast of 7.5?
Its up to you, but atleast I hope this gives you something to consider that will help you make the best choice for you.
Take some time to know what triggers your peaks and valleys. And then see what you can do... and please, inform you significant other beforehand, so they can relate to any inconsistency from what they/you are used to.
Heck... talk to your psychiatrist about this.
