39, male, just diagnosed and taking things one step at a time to learn what works for me, what doesn't, and what can be improved upon. Started Ritalin a week ago, I like it so far.
Main concern: I have always had an extremely hard time concentrating on a task (such as coding, or writing) for more than half an hour, or up to a couple hours on a good day. I'll take a break, walk around or whatever, but it usually doesn't help me de-stress. (The only thing I've found that does help me relax is lying down and reading a book for about an hour.)
I'd love to collect some resources (anything that relies on research) that will help me navigate this problem. Thank you so much!

I was always a D grade student as couldn't stay locked onto anything longer than minutes.Art was good for me and adlib drama cause I can't remember lines.
My personality is crazy up and down with no filter and my EQ is really low.
Got expelled 7 times from schools as I loved bad stuffs and at 46, I've been fired 11 times due to the above.
I've recently been diagnosed with ADHD and put onto 70mg Vyvanse in the morning and topped up with 20mg of Dex around 3pm.
I find that I can have pinpoint accuracy and concentration but when I am around people who like to have a laugh, I immediately jump in, contribute the same way I always have and get into trouble because of my non existent filter.
One thing that might help is to use pomodoro timers. I particularly like to use a second monitor with the Study With Me youtube channel. It's like virtual "body doubling" along with pomodoro timers.
