Cannabis for ADHD?

I don't have a definitive diagnosis for ADHD (I do for autism), but my therapist thinks I have it, and after filling out a questionnaire for my psychiatrist she agreed to try and treat me as if I have it. I've tried a variety of medications and nothing has helped so far.

I tried Adderall, up to 36mg (I think that's how high I went, don't quite remember) and I slept less and had a pulse of 100+ but my concentration didn't increase. Same thing happened with Ritalin—I went up to 40mg, but the doctor had to maneuver around the insurance when bumping up the dose, and I wanted to quit anyway because my high pulse rate alarmed me. Insurance refused to pay for Vyvanse so I didn't bother to try it.

Now I'm on Strattera, 60mg once a day, and sleeping MORE, but no change in concentration. I've heard, though, that cannabis sometimes helps with ADHD (and anxiety, which I have in spades), and a dispensary opened nearby. Should I drop the meds and go for that instead, and if so what strain is best? They have a wide selection.

Hello. Welcome to the ADHD community. I am not a doctor so I am only speaking from experience but Cannabis absolutely helps me. Sativa dominant strains work best for helping with focus and easing anxiety. Also gives you motivation and energy to conquer the day. Definitely doesn’t hurt to try and see how you feel on it. Hi there, I have inattentive ADHD and recently uploaded a video on my ADHD youtube channel which discusses options/pros-cons of using cannabis and cbd oil for ADHD. I also had issues with taking ADHD medication by itself, which is why I take both ADHD stimulant medication and supplements to overall help out my ADHD symptoms and to fight off the negative side effects of stimulant medication. I had a similar issue with increased heart rate, and after researching, started taking the supplement CoQ10, which helps keep blood pressure and heart rate stable. Hope this helps.
