Female- dx at age 40 . I am soooo struggling because on top of having ADHD, its not the kind of symptoms that “ typically” show up in females!!! I am female - 105lbs - with MALE ADHD !!! I do not connect with other ADD/ADHD females that well because my symptoms do not manifest in a typical way. I am hyper, always in search of a risk/ adventure, my #1 fear is boredom, i love sex etc etc. I completely and whole heartedly empathize with ADD/ADHD women ( my teen daughter hasADD)but right now i am feeling so isolated because it seems like only men can relate- which is good n appreciated- but are there other women like me?!?!?! Im feeling alone n misunderstood which is leading to the ultimate pity party which i know is bad news!

I dated a woman like you, and interestingly enough I am a male that has female like ADHD. I'm primarily distractive, but I am hyperactive when I'm not worn out from doing too many things and over stimulating myself. So, maybe not the company you were looking for, but you aren't alone in having gender defiant symptoms. I don't fear boredom, but I do panic when I don't have something to concentrate on, guess I'm lucky that I have a curious mind. Always a new project or a new adventure. I got emotionally burned too many times by chasing the sex part though, I'm like a good well, I'm too deep for the one night stands.
I hope you find your way out of loneliness, and I love your name!
Oh goodness, i think that might be worse, lol!!! As a woman, society already has pretty low expectations of me to act right, so maybe thats a blessing! As a male with female type ADHD- now that is a predicament! The other guy who responded to me is also male with female like ADHD. But my God, its hard enough to fit in when we have ADHD, did we really need to have the opposite gender symptoms too?!?!
I wanted to add more then just the book post. Oh and Stacy if I remember correctly managed a Rock Band, maybe more to it. By the way she’s very engaging as I’ve also heard an interview with her on Totally ADHD with Rick Green, the actor. There are lots of females like you too. Sorry I can’t point you any further.
Omg Emerald- Eyes thank you so much! I do love Rick’s material. It was my first introduction to ADHD. Im still a patron.
Im going to order this book. It was super cool to hear from dudes that have more features indicative of a female- so thats comforting BUT- its WAY cool to know that there are also other female wired ADHD n experience the male like characteristics just like me. But wait, i just want to clarify- im not gay, or male like or masculine in any other sense. Im 105 lbs with the bulldozing, raging, assumed indifference that is often seen in men! I can turn from an angel to kiss of death in .002 seconds if my brain chemicals decide to roll that way. Im an addiction counselor- i TEACH anger management!!! I am so disgusted with myself. The skills that work so awesome for my clients ( which i am so happy for) dont work for me, 😢
Omg!!!! I am exactly like you all the way down to the being 105ibs if you ever need to vent you can totally talk to me! I swear it feels so awesome to read that there is someone who understands EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH and under the same description!!
I have predominantly inattentive ADHD and I'm a Guy so when I found out that professionals only subscribe my ADHD Struggles and type to only girls/woman I remember the first time I got mad because I couldn't find not even ONE helpful resource for Adult inattentive ADHD in me not One.But God made me this way with this ADHD and I don't let it stop me from trying to live for Him tho I lack self control which I truly need to work on.
