Because of a heart condition, I can not take stimulants. From the reading, I've done Atomoxetine seems to be a good alternative. Has anyone else had success with this? 2020 has kicked my behind and I'm looking for any assistance possible! Telehealth therapy doesn't always help as much as I would like.

Atomoxetine as medication choice
Hello sweiland2325~
Welcome to our friendly group.
I personally take stimulant Rx, but here's a good article I found that might help you out:
mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...
Excerpt from article says:
Other medications used to treat ADHD include the nonstimulant atomoxetine and certain antidepressants such as bupropion. Atomoxetine and antidepressants work slower than stimulants do, but these may be good options if you can't take stimulants because of health problems or if stimulants cause severe side effects.
Hope this helps you!

It's great initially, but once it drops off after the first 1-3 days you won't really notice much other than some nausea and headaches. I don't think it's particularly helpful but it certainly seems to have a measurable effect according to other people
I’m looking to go back on a medication. When I tried a stimulant about four years ago, I couldn’t get to sleep. I don’t know why it does that to me but that’s what it did. So I ended up trying Strattera but I don’t recall why I went off it. But I’m definitely feeling like I need some thing because it’s starting to affect my work. I don’t think I’ve realized how much ADHD has affected my life, probably contributing to a divorce, and certainly the frequent job changes. I’m in my mid-40s now and I want to get a handle on it.
I tried Strattera, but it had no effect. I also tried Wellbutrin XL, which did help for a while, but now it's useless. I have congestive heart failure now so I monitor my BP and pulse. I am taking Vyvance 60 mg and it doesn't seem to bother my heart like Adrenal did. But I do take a cardio med which keeps my pulse and BP down. If I don't take it I am so very tired and have no desire to do anything. I don't want to live that way so Vyvance does help some. It's a risk I am willing to take. Good luck
