I'm currently on atomoxetine 40mg and they're making me feel really dizzy and sick in the morning and it last about 90 minutes I told my psychiatrist and it didn't give any suggestions except to make sure I eat which I always do but now he's increased the dose to 60mg and I'm worried they make me feel worse

I'm on atomoxetine 40mg. I take it with food. I try to make sure that I have both some carbs and protein with breakfast (like a bowl of cereal with some peanut butter), because if I eat to little, I feel some nausea.

I learned when I first started taking it that I have to eat within 20 minutes before or after eating, or I get hit with a sudden, intense wave of nausea. If I have anything too acidic with breakfast, like a big glass of orange juice, I also feel a little nauseous later, even if I ate a good meal.

For me, that nausea lasts 5-20 minutes.

But if I have a satisfying breakfast, I have no side effects.

------

I was on 60mg atomoxetine for 6 months. No matter how well I ate at breakfast, I still experienced some nausea (just a mild wave, almost every day, for 5-10 minutes). I also often had a sudden change sneeze attack about 45 minutes to an hour after taking it. The improvement in my symptoms at 60mg over 40mg was very slight, so it wasn't worth the daily discomfort, mild though it was.

------

Different people have different responses to atomoxetine. For me, it's been life changing for the better, with usually no side effects. (At 40mg, that is.)

Some people experience little or no improvement in ADHD symptoms, some experience unpleasant side effects, some experience both. But for some of us, it's better than anything else out there.

I still have some difficulty with motivation, but my problems with inattentiveness, distractibility, persistent indecisiveness, and working memory and short term memory problems are almost completely gone.

I started on 25mg and went up to 60mg. I am currently on 80mg and doing better. I am nauseous and dizzy some mornings but I take Dramamine , drink water and make sure I eat soon after taking meds. It used to be worse but it is getting better. Hope that helps.

Have your prescription changed to a split dose. 20mg in the morning and 20mg in the evening. My daughter had this problem with a different antidepressant and this fixed the problem for her. Her psychiatrist is the one who suggested it.
