Im 51, divorced, creative, charismatic, have had many successes, etc etc. The world doesn't know how difficult having ADD is. I have a degree, Ive had many jobs, I have 5 kids, they are getting older. I need to earn a living. I need to take care of myself and it seems like I dont know how. So glad to have fpund this site. I am seeking local professional counseling and accepting myself as I am one day at a time. I just have this underlying feeling that Im supposed to do something purposeful that will pay the bills while helping others, etc. NJ ain't cheap but I need to be here for my kids for several more years. Ive met with career coaches and mentors to determine my strengths, but it is the journey where I fall short. Its just devastating..I know its ADD. I pray, but I need support and probably medication. Last Dr suggested Welbutrin. I dont hv health insurance so I assumed its an expensive drug? Thanks for listening. Thanks for sharing!

Wellbutrin is available as a generic and relatively affordable. It can be effective for ADHD. I was on it previously.
I have noticed that Wellbutrin has worked for a couple of people on this forum, however, it was as effective as drinking a glass of water for me. Adderall works for many people and it is reasonably priced. Also, I am going to look for a support group for adult ADHD in my community and this may be a good idea for you to consider as well.
Your distress comes through loud and clear and I wish I had an answer for you that would take care of everything. You are doing all you can do and that is what is important. You said that you need to earn a living, take care of your kids, and help others - you have your priorities straight. You need additional support though - think about finding a support group. Never know what you will discover or who you may meet that could show you the way to go.
There is an app you can download, Good RX. Search on medication & dosage. It will tell you what pharmacy has the lowest price. Save tbe coupon in the app and show it when you pick up prescription. Sometimes cheaper than insurance co-pay. I use it every time I need a refill.
