Similarly, I found the app’s overwhelming & not very helpful.
This is what helped me — I use Apple tech but I think you can do similar things with Android. I use the calendar (syncs with my Google Calendar accounts) on my phone to add in all of my appointments & scheduled tasks. That syncs with my Apple watch and I have a reminder of what’s happening right on my wrist. You can set multiple reminders on your calendar.
What’s been helpful recently for me is to keep a planner as well. I break it down from Monthly tasks/goals, to weekly, and then my daily portion has: a timed schedule, a top 3 priorities list, and an area for me to write down my scheduled appointments/meetings.
The timed schedule helps me visualize my time. I can see how much time I have between certain scheduled tasks, etc. It also helps me identify where/when I’m wasting time.
It actually took me many iterations of the planner before I got to what worked for me. I have 3 young kids and work in an unstructured setting, so my schedule is pretty much all over the place.
The planner & electronic calendar and especially the Apple watch has helped me tremendously to at least know what’s going on. I’m not freaking out about when or whether I need to pick up the kids at a certain time anymore. And I don’t forget about my appointments as often. If I don’t have it on the calendar, it’s as good as gone!
I have been using Any.do which seems to have a much better interface and integration with calendars it also have quite good standard define todo list, which by the default are today, tomorrow, upcoming and someday. it also tries to push tasks from tomorrow, upcoming and someday and encourages you to move some tasks on daily basis.
Stop the madness! Simple is key. I do something similar to Pomelo. My master calendar is on my phone and computer. All synced to Google. I then have a paper calendar that also helps me plan dinner. Each weekend, I sit write down what I have coming up in the next week for me and my family. My momagenda calendar has a place for dinner and I also make my grocery list at the same time. momagenda.com.
I agree! Less is more with. I’ve tried to used apps and got frustrated, so what I do now is ... I keep a notepad at work and daily write out what needs to be done the next day before I leave. I check off the lists and that’s it. I do this at home as well. I have a board with all of the tasks I need to complete, give or take some things, and once I complete those tasks I move forward. Don’t make your life anymore complex than it already is. Best wishes!
That is the reason for my anxiety. One day I heard someone in youtube that said this: I have not schedule or stress with all my things, all I do is this:
I have a to do list, everyday I have to do 3 important things. I write them down. I just know that everyday I have and I need to do 3 important things. That was a tremendous help for my day.
The appointments, dates to remember, due dates: I ll put them in my google calendar and put a reminder 2 days before .
Lately I've been experimenting with a simple to do list and it's sort of working. I have four general categories (and can't always remember that many!): one adult thing, one self-care thing, one food thing, and one decluttering/cleaning thing. If I can manage that every day after work, I feel good about it.Adult things: dealing with the mail other than adding to a pile, put all the laundry away, sorting our pills. Self-care: exercise, starting laundry, shower and wash hair. Food thing: make a good meal, cut up veggies, wash dishes, order groceries and put away. Declutter/clean: focus on one area for at least five minutes and actually do something. I have found it doesn't work to take a pile of papers and sort them into different piles. I get confused what each pile is for. So now I take one piece of paper and deal with it. If there's time I'll pick up another one.
This method doesn't get everything done, but it's a good foundation to get something done. On the weekends I repeat the cycle and add in other things that need doing.
I use the to do list in Windows 11 at work. It is simple and I record most tasks. It shows not only what I still need to do, but what I've done for the day. It helps me see that I've actually done work when it seems like I haven't.
I use my Google calendar on my phone for our appointments, since I have to help hubby manage his as well.
