Hello everyone I'm new here. I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago, but always suspected it. I just finally felt like reaching out and seeing what others like me had to say. Sometimes it's just frustrating trying to explain to people what it's like inside here. Thanks for listening.
I've been on medication several times and found the side effects to be not ideal. But am trying again. Hope it's better this time around. Hope to hear from some you.

Hi There - Please read my first post "Diagnosed with ADHD at 35 - you may relate to it. Are you getting any treatment? and if so what are you getting treated with and does it help? If not, what is stopping you from getting help? ADHD is very treatable . I think we have to accept that most people will not understand or say they do just to be nice, what it's like to have ADHD so it is not worth letting it frustrate you. If it's people who really do need to understand your situation - like an employer, maybe talk to a professional who has experience in ADHD specifically who can help you explain your situation. Google ADHD support groups in your area as well. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. I was on adderall for a bit and it worked as far as my focus was concerned, but I couldn't handle the come down. Everyday I came home from work and I was just a burned out shell. I couldn't really do much of anything. So I moved to Strattera and it was ok but had some weird side effects. I am in therapy right now and it helps a lot. But really I just wanted to connect with people, share experiences, and just get a better sense that I'm not alone. People don't get what it's like and that's just a fact, but it would be nice to hear from folks who have had the same experiences and just connect really.

Hello, I hope all os well with you. I know how difficult it is to explain your diagnosis to people who don't understand what it is. It can be helpful to find a therapist or support to help you to get some ideas on how to cope with having ADHD. Look into CHADD, its an ADHD organization that offers support groups for adults with ADHD. I hope this helps. Please keep us posted!!
Don't forget to Google ADHD support groups in your area to connect with people you can talk to who are going through the same thing. Good Luck!
I feel like there’s so much going on inside me idk even if I can explain it all well to myself.
I feel like with my family, (who I tried to explain it to) mental illness has a stigma, my dad doesn’t speak to his sister over 40 years he said he said once when I asked that he believes she has mental issues, my family won’t talk about mental illness, There not supportive of me, I felt so much shame all my life.
