Possibility of treatment (and, maybe, even cure ) of ADHD through diet.

Good morning. According to Jessica R. Jackson, William W. Eaton, [...], and Deanna L. Kelly, in an article in the "Psichiatric quaterly", there a strong positive correlation between celiac sensitivity and disease and ADHD: ( quote ) "A few studies have suggested that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may be associated with gluten intolerance as well. A study measured ADHD symptoms in CD patients and found that these symptoms are “overrepresented” as compared to the general population. A 6-month gluten-free diet was reported to improved ADHD symptoms and the majority of patients (74%) in this report wanted to continue the gluten-free diet due to significant relief of their symptoms [34]."

( To read all the article related, please follow the link: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... )

Following that and my personal experience, it seems that a better fundamental treatment of ADHD ( and other psichiatric disorders ) is possible and that would be, primarly, prescribing an adequate diet to the patients to reduce largely the celiac sensitivity ( and the other close related bowel disorders ) in order to treat and, maybe, even cure both that and ADHD and related psichiatric disorders, at least, in some cases.

Considering that to be the case, psichiatric pharmaceuticals that are prescribed today for those related psichiatric disorders would prove to be a secondary or even unnecessary treatment.

I would strongly encourage more research and trials on that.

( For further information, these links can be usefull, too: scholar.google.pt/scholar?q... and

Thank you. )
