Unfortunately not all of us have the parents to give us the support we need and when you have adhd it can be even more challenging to grow and function in a world that is not set up for us. Our schools in north America have accommodations but when there are therapists and psychologists that do not have a grand understanding of how adhd affects us we can feel hopeless and end up in careers that undermine our potential. The accommodations alone wont amount to much if the people are supposed to help us are far and few in between. We need to start speaking up. We need to start recognizing our own difficulties and express them to the ones that are supposed to help us. WE NEED TO BE HEARD. books that I can recommend are as follows
1)scattered minds this is an md who has adhd himself.
2) The myth of the adhd child. although he believes adhd does not exist he gives strategies for our specific minds. believe you have adhd or not does not matter.
3)Taking charge of adhd
