Hi I'm new here and didn't even know there was support for all issues!! Lol Anyhoo, I'm now 45,yrs old still not allowed by Drs to take anything due to other issues. Well addictions. Sober now for 7 years but anyways I desperately need something cause strattera never did anything after trying it a few times. All it caused was severe dry mouth. I can't stand what ADHD,causes such as no attention span, talk over others even when trying my hardest not to cause I know that's not good. Reading bills, notices, books or the like from the end backwards. Just wanting to get thru,it fast so I,just, look at the end hoping that it will tell what the bill or whatever it May be says. Is that part of ADHD? I've been told by many folks your a hurricane!! Lol. I try not to be but find myself over and over doing the same things. I have taken ADHD tests since my 20s and I've been diagnosed with it over and over! Anybody else have same things as I do? Those are only a few. Thanks everyone for any advice!!

Hi there, welcome to the club, we're quite the unique creative bunch.
Anyway if your doctors are not allowing you to take stimulant ADHD medication, I highly recommend to take helpful supplements to help fight the negative symptoms that come with having ADHD. Because of having ADHD we lack multiple neurotransmitters, and that can make life quite difficult in a huge variety of ways. I want to share a link of a google doc I made of every supplement I take, why I take it, how it helps people with ADHD, the cost, and what stores sell these supplements. I got diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD in my mid 20s and am now taking a low dose stimulant along with a group of supplements to help fight the negative side effects of stimulant medication as well the negative side effects of just having ADHD. That combination has led me to study ADHD for a few years now, and earn my BA in Psychology, while currently being in grad school to become an MFT Psychologist. Most psychiatrist I'm aware of and told of by clients I have seen, tell me that supplements are rarely if ever mentioned, this is something I really hope to change.
Anyway here is the link, keep in mind that some people sometimes need higher or lower dosages since our bodies are all different. Hope this helps
Oh yes my dear! You are not describing anything new here--we all got these wonderful traits!
Personally, I couldn't function without the medications--they get my pre-frontal cortex running on all cylinders!
Lol that's so funny!!! I love that. I just started with a new Dr here cause I've only been here in utah a month. He's been wonderful compared to my other so call Dr in law Vegas. He started me on a heart med that helps call you down from anxiety and a supplement called true calm. He said once I get used to those he'll help with the ADHD and get me on a medication for that. Hopefully cause as ya know ADHD is hard to deal with!! Lol I love what you wrote thank you so much. Running on all cylinders!! Anxiety and ADHD were a bad mix while I was working cause I work for the elderly and that's not good cause of having to be patient and calm for them has been such a challenge. Unemployed at the moment which is ok cause I need to get recertified to get CNA certificate again. Anyhoo, I'm just so glad your on a med that helps. Which one are you taking if that's ok to ask? I used to take genetic adderall. Worked good years ago. Well hope you have a great day today!!! God bless😀
I recently read or heard a statement that claimed people with ADHD actually are less prone to searching out recreational drug alternatives if they are taking the correct amount of medication for their ADHD. That makes a ton of sense to me because our other masking manifestations, such as depression, can cause us to look for relief in all the wrong places. I wish you good luck working with your new doctor!
I’m the same way when I’m not on my medication. Apparently my doctor seems to believe I have a history of addiction, I hated that word and wanted to avoid it around me at all costs because I was afraid he would take me adderall away. Giving up my adderall would make my life so hard and less. Even on my medication I still have struggles. But not taking the prescription dose correctly has caused problems, so we talked about it and now he has been writing my scripts for weekly amounts and he notes each script with the date it can be filled. Doing that was the best decision for me
I just moved from Vegas to Utah thankfully so I have new Dr to hopefully get adderall too. I took it before and it helped. I wish I still had it but this new Dr said he can help me with the ADHD once I get, this crippling anxiety, under control. Hopeful cause as you know ADHD is a pain. Glad your getting adderall too.
You are not alone. I talk over others and hate it also!
