Seeking advice

I am looking for a life coach or a therapist for my little sister, who is 20 years old and diagnosed with ADHD. I feel that finding supports to help empower her, can help her to be accountable to her personal goals as an individual and find her way and what works for her in terms of navigating what she wants/needs to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the group! I wonder.if she would also like to join us in daily discussions and advice. A good therapist could be a place to start, but it would be hard to do much without medical support ( either prescribed by a doctor and or natural supplaments) in addition she might need help in school/work to help keep her on task and focused on the end product. Many children want to eat the pizza becuase it taste good and fills their tummy, but struggle with each step to make it.

Hope this helps,

You could look on the CHADD website for specific details.

It's great you want to give her the bn tools to become successful.

Take care,

Thank you so much for your warm welcome and advice. She was officially diagnosed as a teen and recently evaluated by a psychiatrist. She definitely needs support with school and to be kept on task and help with organization. What you’re saying totally makes sense, I can ask her if she’d like to join. I have to double check if she has started medication. I know she was on it before.

It’s funny, I looked up chadd services which seem AMAZINGGG but couldn’t find any in her area: I think she needs in person support. Someone to be accountable to and support her with daily/weekly goals.

I assume she is asking for help? You might also try checking with NAMI. I actually found the behavior therapist that my grandsons go to on you Psychology Today's website.

My parents are searching for resources to empower her with. I’m just trying to get as much feedback as possible. Psychology today is amazing. I found a few people that may be able to assist. I let my parents know and my sister will be calling them next week, hopefully she will find a coach or a therapist who’s a good fit. Thank you for your input, I deeply appreciate it! I will also check into NAMI. Thank you again.

My son is 28 and is just graduating from Uni this June. It had been a long and winding road BUT he did it. With the guidance of a great counsellor, doctor and assistance from his University. Medication was the key component for him (Strattera and Dexidrene). Plus a amazing counsellor that was able to guide him, support him through providing tools and techniques. . ADDitude Magazine is on IG it has some great articles and info. I would highly suggest that too as well as CHADD and NAMI. What a great bro you are to step up and help out. Wishing your sister the very best. Get her to join the group. Lots of support here. Cheers

You sound like a loving and supportive big sis. Definitely I think having an ADHD coach would be helpful and therapy could be the next option if coaching doesn't meet all of her needs. A good website to search for a coach might be here --expertadhdcoaching.com. I pray you find someone to support your sister in reaching her goals and continue posting to the group regularly as well. Looking forward to your hearing some great feedback... God bless!
