hi my name is chassity. I have a son that is a severe dyslexic and was said to be adhd only for being "inattentive". He is almost 10 and was diagnosed at age 7.. He takes meds for the adhd purely for focus help..I am looking to get him off the "meth" pill as I call it ..looking toward a full spec cbd oil. I have done the research and really im impressed now just seeking advice..anybody out there been in this boat?? Or any parents that have given cbd oil to their children?

Hi! I too am taking my daughter off “meth” and trying hempworx cbd oil. I use it myself and love it. I’m documenting my daughters journey on fb if you want to follow. Need all the support I can get. We’re on day two of being fully off meds and on oil.

Good luck with your efforts to help your son. I have to say though, I ftjink it’s pretty offensive to call adhd medications “meth.” We’re all on this sight because we are trying to do the best for our children. And ADHD medications are proven, through years of double blind studies, to be the most effective way to treat ADHD. That being said, I wouldn’t judge anyone for looking for an alternative to traditional medications. I wish you luck with that. But please don’t put a negative spin on medications that are proven to help people with ADHD.

Having been through your experience (my son is now 30), I find the schools and doctors too quick to throw prescriptions at parents. Did they recommend that you take your child to a neurologist or for an eye exam? Many children have low attention spans but are not all A.D.D. Would you consider a second opinion. Many parents are not given counseling about diet and nutrition and non-drug related remedies. We are, lets face it, a drug oriented society. My son got so sick from pills that I had him on NO medications, and we sure got a lot of complaints. We were harassed to medicate him. As one teacher told us "What are WE supposed to do."? It's about behavior with the schools. Keep searching and trying new things. Some may work and some may not but best of luck to you. Sounds like you are a very devoted and involved parent.

Thank you...he has had eye test hearing test and the works done at a university in our state. U are so right the school made it sound like prescription meds were the only way to go. He never had a behavior problem just needed to be more focused for his dyslexic therapy..until the meds that is. He has taken them almost 2 years and im guessing they have helped according to the schools standards...I think they prefer little zombies instead of active kids! Cause now if we skip a day he aggravates his own self and he knows it..so for the summer I have decided to try someyhing else.I have studied up on the oils and im trying one out we are on day 3 without the meds and now trying to adjust the oil to benefit him...I am just not willing to keep him on this forever or even long term they just want to up the dose every so often and years down the road there could be damage as with anything we take. I have talked with his drs about the cbd oil but I love on Mississippi so they can't recommend it and claim to know too little about it so ive went out on my own with it I just want whats best for my kid. also I meant no offense with the "meth pill" statement but its clearly whats written on his bottle...and I do agree that it helped and ive given it to him. But now I feel he needs something a bit more natural he is to young to be an addict to the stuff...thanks for all advice

No offense taken. I am admiring your determination to help you son the right way. What the so-called professionals do NOT tell us is that the child's liver could be damaged by strong drugs at such a young age. My son looked like (at the age of 9) he had leukemia because his skin looked mottled and purple. As soon as we took him off the "meth pill" which is entirely correct, his skin went back to its normal color. One question to ask yourself is "are the medications causing obvious benefits to his grades and ability to make friends and not call negative attention in class." If the answer is yes, we parents still have to be aware of possible health problems that the schools do not seem to care about. God bless your determination to do right by your son. He is lucky to have a Mom like you. Wendy

I don't believe that cdb oils are government regulated in any way. Not by the FDA nor the CDC and it would also be that it is not standardized. Natural is a loose term that is used often and not an indication to real analytical science. I would also check to see if this medication and that is ultimately what it is, has been proven safe for children. I understand wanting to get your child off the meds, but I am not sure this is the way to do it. The absorption rate is different for adults and ultimately this medication has to also get filtered somewhere, either the pancreas or liver. I would look at the research and question everything! My son is on an ADHD med and we have tried several types and dosages and think we found the one that works for him. We meet with our pediatrician once a month to check his weight, and review how he is doing and his liver enzymes are tested every 6 months. That was my choice and my doc complied. Best wishes!
