Hi- Im new here. what was school reaction once your child was diagnosed with ADD?

My son was diagnosed at 7 years of age and towards the middle of 2nd grade. His teachers at the time were very understanding and communicated with me openly about what they were doing in the classroom to help him with his ADHD. He is now in 3rd grade, at a new school and right away when I met his teachers I openly told them that he was diagnosed with ADHD, his Science and Math teacher told me that it was ok and that she totally understood because she herself has ADHD. He is on meds and I did meet with the Asst. Principal, his Reading/ELA, Social Studies, Math and Science teacher, a school counselor and his Art and music teachers and set up a 504 plan for him. Basically, it just says that he is allowed extra time to complete his tasks if needed especially during exams. Our experience has been positive and my son is finally learning and loving school again. He is earning As and Bs whereas before his diagnosis he was failing.
