I've signed up to do The Lord of the Rings challenge. I am planning to do a bit of hybrid walking/jogging. You can't say I'm not a tryer π
Wish me luck! I'm planning to do a weekly post here to keep me accountable and motivated. I've set myself a 6 week goal, but I can change it if something comes along or (less likely) I'm actually doing more than I need to.
Any and all encouragement gratefully recieved as it always is π€²ππββοΈ

My son just finished the first journey (The Shire, which was a birthday present from me) and he is ready for the next phase! And he adored the medal with the ring, so heβs going strong for the next chapter. Heβs also counting both running and walking!
So looking forward to your future progress reports!
Thank you π Great that your son has done it too π I've paired my Fitbit with the app, so that should save me faffing about updating.I'm really hoping it inspires me to get going a bit more although the heat over the last few days has really done for me, I'm a typical northern last and anything over 20 Celsius is just too hot for meπ₯΅
Iβm with you in regards to the heat. Give me a northern cool but sunny summer day, and Iβm bouncing along.
But Iβve noticed over the last three days that I cope much better with the heat compared to the time before I started running! I was at a conference last 3 days, so travelling on trains in heat and lugging baggage up steps from platform to platform, lots of walking β¦ but I coped surprisingly well compared how much I suffered in these hot days before I started running.
It also helped that I have become more confident with my outfits, more leggings, vests and sandals.
Thank you π I'm already making plans for the second challenge, but not being over-ambitious just in case π When I've almost completed the first, I can buy the second π
I have only joined you in this challenge too... I love walking and need to do another 400 odd miles before Christmas.... Have a gorgeous challenge it does look good got my first postcard π
I did the whole series, once you've got the ring you've got to destroy it in the volcano!
I've done quite a few of their challenges, to be honest, I refer the real location ones, where you can look around on street view, but I did enjoy LOTR too. Do you use the Facebook group? It's very inspiring.
Yes, I have a feeling I will have to complete the whole series, being the LOTR lover that I am.....books and films!
No, I've not joined the online community. I tend to find them a tad on the competitive side for my liking and prefer to just be a lone wolf travelling at my own pace as I have days (like today) wher I am exhauseted and probably won't do alot, but would feel pressured to "perform" as it were. It's just me, and I know myself well enough after 64 years to know I work better alone! π
These are not remotely competitive, but just very supportive. No pressure to perform, just share your triumphs as they come... anyway, it's your choice, no pressure to join!
