Hello out there

Hi People

Be gentle I'm very new to this.

I live in Hampshire and have just recently turned 60. I recently found out my heart is not functioning as it should. Although I'm fit, eat well and not overweight it came as a shock.

I tend to walk our dog for my exercise and play Badminton (badly) with my daughter occasionally.

I downloaded the Active 10 app which has helped me pick up the pace a bit more with the brisk walking.

I'm not into Gym based stuff really as I don,t think lycra suits me :)

Thanks for reading my rambling intro... take care

HibBoo600 I’m quite new here as well, haven’t downloaded the Active10 as walk quite a lot, but good luck to you on your Active 10 and am sure your dog will enjoy the walks too 🤗

Well, I certainly am able to identify with you!!!

I am a lean mean functioning machine who has had CLL for 32+ years and was diagnosed with aorta stenosis….it sort of rocked my world. However, two years later I am still the lean mean functioning machine and just this past week my cardiologist told me he wish I could give classes an how to get the very most out of life.

I avoid gyms due to the possibility of too any germs for me to handle as I rely on IVIG to keep me in safe place.

Eating healthy and keep moving is my motto!!! I wish you only the very very best….you can do it!

Welcome to the forum Hidden The NHS website has some guidelines and tips for exercising.

How do I know if I'm walking fast enough?

A brisk walk is about 3 miles an hour, which is faster than a stroll.

You can tell you're walking briskly if you can still talk but cannot sing the words to a song.

You could also try using the free Active 10 app on your smartphone.

It tells you when you're walking fast enough and suggests ways to fit in some more brisk walking.

Enjoy
