Whats a brisk walking speed for us and using the Active10 App. 🚶‍♀️🚶

Hi everyone,

What I like about the active10 App is it's based on how far and how briskly we walk while carrying our phones.

I've been checking how far I walk when shopping as shopping is something that we all have to do and as I eat lots of fresh fruit and veg I buy fresh food every few day.

I drive for a big shop but just a few perishables is a good reason for extra exercise and some fresh air at the same time.

I've been curious as to what a brisk walk is and realise its based on us and whats a brisk walk for us. So I'd say that 100 steps per minute is a brisk walking pace for most people and that the brisk walking speed ranges from 2.7 mph to 3.5mph.

Here's an article about walking speeds on Healthline as they encourage the merits of walking, please see:

healthline.com/health/exerc...

So here are my stats from when I've been shopping since installing the A10 app.

Friday I walked into to town and back which's nearly 2 miles, I walked for 48 mins 30 briskly.

Thursday I walked to my corner shop and that took 36 mins with 20 mins brisk walking

Wednesday I drove into town and just parked my car and then shopped in the local stores. I was still pleased that I spent 39 minutes walking only 6 were brisk but it shows how quickly we can increase our activity which I feel the App does as I purposely walk briskly knowing its better for my heart and overall health to make an extra effort and the best bit is I feel better for it.

Here's my path into the forest which I find magical and so inviting but its not always conducive to brisk walking I go up a very steep slope just around the corner and that makes my ticker pump but I go to enjoy being amongst nature, which combined with exercise is a great combo.

The path into the forest.

Hidden Well done - On the NHS website "How do I know I'm walking fast enough" says

"A brisk walk is about 3 miles an hour, which is faster than a stroll."

"You can tell you're walking briskly if you can still talk but cannot sing the words to a song."
