Hi. I have unilateral high frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. I also get tingling and a strange feeling on the same side.
Waiting for my mri. Has anyone else had similar symptoms and it wasn’t a Tumor? My dad has had three benign brain tumours although none of them linked to ears but I’m a bit paranoid
Thanks

Yes I have strange feeling on left side of face from last 1 yr tingling in half tongue and half lips till jaw line...AN removed in 2015 MRI done 3 mth back bt it's clear still I have strange feeling MRi due after 2 yrs
I also had an annoying sensation under my tongue and down my right side jaw a few years ago, It was very painful and I thought it was trigeminal neuralgia.
It seems to make a bit more sense now as I have read that a AN can sometimes encroach the trigeminal nerve so I imagine it was giving me that sensation.
Thank you. I am still hopeful it could be something else. I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Would you know if it can make you feel like your grinding your teeth please?
Grinding teeth is a stress situation and may cause TMJ pain. If so, massage your TMJ muscles starting from your temples and pressing and moving down till you reach your lower jaw. Do this several times. I hope that it helps.
I think lots of symptoms vary and it’s best to get a diagnosis confirmation from the MRI Before guessing then we are all here for you and you will know what you are dealing with. Good luck x x
Thank you. It’s the not knowing. Once I know one way or another I can deal with it. Just need to stop grinding my teeth as that hurts the most. Lots of boiled sweets and an early night planned for today x
Hi, I started suffering with left sided hearing loss and tinnitus in August and had some accompanying headaches and vertigo and was convinced it was an AN but have since had the MRI scan which has given me the all clear which is a relief so as much as the symptoms sound like an AN try and be positive and wait for the outcome of the scan, like me you may be surprised.
They didn't unfortunately, I saw an ENT consultant last week and he just said nothing had changed since my last review a couple of months ago, said they could inject steroids into my inner ear which probably wouldn't make any difference and sent me on my way with a leaflet on hearing loss and tinnitus! I'm scheduled to go back in a couple of months time to see if there has been any improvement but I'm not expecting it to as it has been like this since August and if anything it is getting worse. I shouldn't complain given what people on here have been through or are going through but it is just a bit annoying that they don't seem to be bothered about something which is affecting me quite severely at times and is now causing me problems in work but as I say I shouldn't complain given I was convinced for weeks that I had an AN and was preparing myself for the worst. So keep your spirits up and I hope like me you get a clear scan - good luck.
Hi, I seem to have similar symptoms as you, having a MRI in 3days, no headaches, strange feeling down side of my tongue, weakness on same side.
I was sent to the stroke unit at one time but they said it more than likely I had never had even had one.
The ENT doctor said it was, Labrinthitis( I been struggling for eight weeks now) he booked a MRI scan.
The first doctor I saw said it could have been a tumor but sent me for an earring test, the audiologist said I should have had an urgent referral to ENT instead of being sent for an hearing test.
Wow. Where abouts are you? I had the hearing test first at Specsavers then referred to ent who did another and then sent me for an mri. Had that in December 15th but don’t get results till 5th February so expect to get the all clear which will be good but won’t answer any questions about what is causing all of this
Half way between two hospitals, didn’t know the one they sent me to was in a different area and would have needed to go to the teaching hospital miles away for treatment when I could have been treated more locally so swooped over, two hearing tests done with different results.
