MRI Results waiting time

Hi everyone,

I just wondered how long people have waited for their MRI results after being referred for one by their GP?

It’s only been just over week since I had my MRI but I’m feeling anxious waiting for the results.

Sorry to say but you are probably in for a long wait . I am still waiting for my results from a scan beginning of July 2024 .

Oh my that is so bad! What did you have the MRI for? I was told the wait would be 2-4 weeks but I’ll be surprised if I do hear in that time.

It was for Acoustic Neuroma at Leeds LGI . I had a phone call in November regarding if I wanted Gamma knife surgery. I was told that would be in 1 to 2 months time . Still not had a letter about either , after a phone call told treatment would probably be in March .

So far I have been waiting 8 weeks for mine as apparently the consultant was off ill for a few weeks so no one has reviewed them yet 🤦‍♀️. The wait is horrible x

My son had an MRI at the beginning of November and he received the results last week . I think it varies on what they uncover in the scan .

Must just be adding to your worry, so hard! I had the (GP referred) scan on a Saturday and my GP rang me on the Monday with the results. This was in 2020… so I guess totally different times. I hope you can find ways to distract yourself. X Lin

Hi, I had my second scan in 22 Sept 24 and got the results 24 December 24.

I did ring to chase it up after about 6 weeks and was told 8 weeks was worst case scenario for reports and then I had to wait for an appointment after that. The day after my phone call to them I received an appointment - could be coincidence or maybe I prompted them into action.

You have my sympathy the wait isn’t great but it’s more likely than not that your results will be positive and you’ll have been worrying for nothing.

I had my 5 year control MRI at the start of January and I got my results at the end of February. The scan was done in Swindon and the results came from Bristol.
