Hello

I'm waiting for an MRI scan to confirm or rule out acoustic neuroma. I missed a scan in January because I was unwell so now I'm going in April. I have one sided hearing loss with intrusive tinnitus but no other symptoms. Is it possible to have acoustic neuroma without any balance issues?

Referral for MRI

Nobody has explained why, but my own research has come up with acoustic neuroma. Any thoughts?

Dizziness.... can your body compensate in other ways?

Hi I have a small acoustic neuroma on the balance nerve on my right hand side. Ive lost most of my hearing on that side and have tinnitus. I’ve recently started to have bouts of dizziness also. Does anyone know......do you learn to adapt to the dizziness?

Radiation twice anyone?

I had radiation four years ago for an acoustic neuroma and it did shrink to start with but unfortunately grew back so had to have gamma knife again.

Newly Diagnosed

Last week I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma, having gone suddenly deaf in my right ear 16 months ago, and eventually having an MRI 2 weeks ago. Apparently the tumour is 2.1cm x 5cm. I've been referred to a Skull Base surgeon, but who knows when I'll get an appointment with them.

Right eye watering

I have had my acoustic neuroma surgery back in 2018 and then regular check ups which were fine and they discharged me last year. Nowadays I am experiencing that my right eye (where surgery was done) is watering specially while I am eating.

Newly diagnosed AN

Hello everyone I have been diagnosed with a 3cm acoustic neuroma and been told my only option is surgery to remove it due to where it’s sitting! I’m currently awaiting a date for surgery in Manchester! I feel numb, like it’s not really happening to me!

How long between MRI and diagnoses of Acoustic Neuroma.

Hi I have had problems with dizziness and feeling off balance since I had covid in January this year, I also have tinnitus. I was diagnosed by a GP with labyrinthitis. My symptoms evolved a bit from being constantly off balance and nauseous to rushes of a sort of falling feeling that only lasted a few

Acoustic Neuroma Surgery and facial paralysis

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 25Aug, all successful for removal of large AN tumour. Since coming home facial paralysis has started and now affects my eye and mouth. I wondered if anyone else had this after 2weeks post op and what helped them? I had heard you can tape the eye shut which I did yesterday

Not considered urgent

I was informed by my doctor that the MRI I had at the local hospital had revealed that I have an acoustic neuroma which is pressing on my brainstem. The doctor said that the nearest specialist would be in touch with me as the MRI dept . would have sent my scan straight to the specialist.

Blurred vision

I am currently under investigation for an acoustic neuroma due to left sided tinnitus. I was referred to ENT 4 weeks ago but so far no joy with an appointment unfortunately. However, yesterday on 2 occasions I developed blurred vision to my left eye. Each lasting about 20 min. No pain.

Not coping

I had surgery in 1997 for removal of an acoustic neuroma. This left me with one sided hearing and tinnitus. The tinnitus was always manageable and didn't interfere with my life. 3 years ago out of the blue it started in both ears and the volume was unbearable and still is.
