After a long wait, I had my first infusion yesterday. All went OK until they removed the cannula which somehow got stuck, the result of which has left me with a very nasty bruise which is not looking to good this morning so will have to keep an eye on it. Just waiting for the magic to work now to

Abatacept
Hi I was wondering if anyone else has been told that they have got to have infusions of these at home because of stock problems? If so, have you started them yet? Thank you

Abatacept infusions
As many others on
Abatacept
will know we are swapping onto infusions due to shortages. Lloyds called me on Monday evening regarding swapping & went through the usual personal questions then asked how many I had left at which point we lost the connection.

Word of warning about Abatacept availability
I have found today that I cannot obtain
Abatacept
as both the epipens and the drug are in short supply or in my case unobtainable. No idea what next, I await my rheumy’s reply to my email, Umm!

Abatacept Shortage?
Hi, I've been on
abatacept
since last year as a subcutaneous injection weekly at home. I've had a message from Lloyds Homecare who provide it saying that the manufacturer has let them know of an imminent shortage. Lloyds are going to provide it by infusion at home instead.

Abatacept Infusions Update
Hi everyone who responded to my last few posts regarding starting infusions. I had a call yesterday from Lloyds ( most likely because my Rheumy Nurse had sent them an e mail) to arrange a delivery of the infusion fluid & cannulas. I had expected a date for the infusion but the lady knew nothing about

Abatacept problem
I have been started on
Abatacept
with one lesson in its use. The next one to check I could cope was cancelled three weeks ago and I have not heard from the company so I have missed the doses. I have rung them and they have promised an appointment but not given one.

Abatacept shortage
I posted a couple of weeks ago that I was going to start
Abatacept
as the Tocilizumab didn’t work 🙄. My consultant has contacted me to say there is a national shortage so I’m to start JAK inhibitor tablets instead. Has anyone had good results with these please? 🙏🏻

Abatacept shortage of clickpens and pre-filled syringes - Lloyds Clinical Homecare website information.
https://lpclinicalhomecare.co.uk/orencia-pen-shortage/ Has anyone on here ever changed from IV
Abatacept
to sub-cut to find it wasn’t as effective? Concerned about the eventual change back.

Abatacept Infusion positive Update
Hi all of you who have been helping me sort out my swap to infusions. Well my delivery arrived as planned this morning. 2 great big boxes! Wasn't expecting that. The guy who delivered it chatted for a while & said there had been quite a few hiccups in organising everything. He said if I hadn't heard

Abatacept injection issue. Help
Hi of all times for this to happen whilst up I’m waiting for my infusion dates. I went to do my injection this morning into my tummy as usual & as I’ve lost fat on my stomach lately the pen wouldn’t push hard enough into my stomach to inject. I tried again & my grip wasn’t good & although the pen worked

Replacing Belatacept with Abatacept
He told me to hold off on that decision for now as in the future it may be possible for me to switch to a similar drug,
Abatacept
, which is a weekly injectable. Huh. I did some research and found a few studies that are indeed looking at this.

Abatacept .. clickpens to be resumed by September.
My delivery of four
Abatacept
pre-filled syringes arrived today on time as arranged. Then a phone call this afternoon from the hospital pharmacy technician to say that the pens will be back in supply sooner than anticipated, in September.

Abatacept infusion not lasting 4 weeks
Hi has anyone swapping from injections to infusions find that the infusions are not lasting the full 4 weeks. I've been struggling for the past week & my next infusion is not due till next week. Does it take time to build up in your system? Does anyone know or feel the same as me?

She never rang back. I waited a week & called Lloyds & the lady I spoke to said there was no record of that

Frustration
Following on from the post a couple of days ago regarding the shortage of
abatacept
and the link to the National Patient Safety Alert regarding shortages, I phoned our local rheumy help line. Initially, I was number 14 in the queue but decided to hang on.
