Hi of all times for this to happen whilst up I’m waiting for my infusion dates. I went to do my injection this morning into my tummy as usual & as I’ve lost fat on my stomach lately the pen wouldn’t push hard enough into my stomach to inject. I tried again & my grip wasn’t good & although the pen worked when I took it away most of the fluid ran down my stomach.
I’ve never in 10 years probably for self injecting pens had this happen. My own fault. But now what? Have any of you had this happen? Did you miss a week or did you use another injection that day or even in say 3 or 4 days rather than being a week without? I’ve on,y just recently gone back on them after being without them for 7 weeks with severe flu & chest infection.
im still waiting for Lloys to call me back about infusions but now have to tell them I’ve got 1 pen less.

It happens. I had a whole batch of faulty injection pens for one or other of whichever drug I was on at the time and after the first needle failed and I didn’t inject the contents I tried with a second one. When that failed, I gave up, rang the company and was supplied with a new batch.
Don’t beat yourself up about it, try another syringe and then wait for Lloyds to contact you. They’ll be used to things like this happening. If you miss a week it’s not the end of the world.
Thanks. I’m just annoyed as it’s the first time it’s happened. I’ve decided to wait till Tuesday or Wednesday to have my next one just in case I got a bit of the fluid although I’m pretty sure most if not all ran down my stomach.
Thanks. I’m going to call them on Monday to see if they have sorted my prescription out as it will be 2 weeks since they called me to arrange infusions when we got cut off & still no call back.
I always do my upper front of thigh, so sorry can’t assist you. I find my thigh is far more stable and firm. I hope you can sort your Abatacept situation out asap. Yes, tell them you are very experienced in doing them but maybe it could have been a faulty one? Not sure I’d do another though. You can’t tell whet went in. I’d ask the meds company if you can’t get hold of your rheumy nurse. .
Thanks. Yes that’s why I’m unsure what to do. I’ve never done one in my leg tbh. My stomach has always been ok but the bit of fat I grabbed hold of gave way on pushing the pen against it. It’s never happened before. It was me & not the pen that was faulty. It did pierce the skin as it bled a bit so I may have got a tiny bit. I will call Rheumy nurse advice line tomorrow but it’s usually 5 days till they call back.
Don’t use another one as you really don’t know how much went in so I’d wait until your next injection (a similar situation I have had faulty pens not inject all the liquid and was told this when I asked )
