Hi
I have had this problem for several years, not sure if it came on when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism or when I started taking statins!
The GP diagnosed seborrhoea dermatitis- she prescribed Nizoral 2% - to use Twice a week - leave on 5 minutes before rinsing. Then I use my normal shampoo and condition without rubbing into the scalp. I have been using it for years but doesn’t cure it, just gives a couple of days relief. The problem is classed as a wet dandruff where your scalp secretes high levels of sebum and clogs your scalp with dead cells, becomes itchy and inflamed, causing a few raised bumps/ spots.
As my hair is very dry I can’t wash every day!
I find the relief lasts for 2 days and then comes back. I am going to try just shampooing with Nizoral and not using my normal shampoo.
As my hair is thick and dry, I can’t shampoo daily, plus I am sure this shampoo does strip your hair of moisture.
My instant relief is dripping white vinegar or cider vinegar on my dry hair and rubbing into my scalp - and can leave on 30 minutes and then shampoo or leave it on all day - the relief is amazing. So great on an odd day when at home!
As always it doesn’t cure the problem but does feel amazing.
