I'm 40 . And have awful nighttime sweating where I wake absolutely soaking. Especially my top half . It is really weird as it doesn't happen in the summer . In the summer I switch to a summer duvet and sleep well . In the winter I switch to a thicker duvet as I am always cold .silly cold especially feet . My friend said maybe while sleeping I make myself very warm under this heavy duvet and topper that I sweat because too hot then obviously wake because cold again from the sweat . I have no other symptoms of menapause I think its strange it only happens in the colder months . Anyone experienced this ? Sleeping in the winter for me is very broken due to this . I'll be lucky if out of 7 I get 1 undisturbed sleep .

Night time sweating anyone ?
It sounds really frustrating to deal with nighttime sweating, especially when it disrupts your sleep. I've heard that sometimes using heavier bedding can trap heat and cause sweating, even in winter. You're not alone; many people experience similar issues. Have you tried lighter blankets or adjusting your room temperature?
I had similar once I got to my late 30's. What works for me in the winter is putting an electric blanket (on a fairly low setting) into the bed, with the duvet pulled over, for about an hour before I'm going to go bed. Then when I decide to go to bed I turn it off and take it out. The bed and duvet are lovely and warm to get into (not super hot) so stops me having that initial freezing feeling that would make me shake and want to have a much heavier duvet. I can have a thinner duvet (still slightly thicker than summer) then the bed cools down slowly but I maintain a nice temperature without getting too hot. I also keep a thin blanket at the bottom of the bed just in case I get a little cold in the early hours to pull up on top of the duvet but I rarely need this.
Also, I need to sleep in knickers and vest, not PJ's anymore or I get too hot. But, I still need one pair of thin socks and also a pair of bed socks on top to keep my feet warm in the winter. The combination of the knickers and vest, 2 pairs of socks, electric blanket just to warm the bed a little beforehand, not too heavy duvet in the winter, are the best combo for me to feel warm but not get too hot. I still had to start HRT in my mid 40's due to the night sweats which has worked but I was having a lot of other symptoms too which don't seem to apply to you especially as you're fine in the summer - hopefully if you get the bed temperature right for you it will make all the difference to the sweats.
Happens to me. I'm cold going to bed, so need lots of blankets, then wake up sweating, kicking them off. I find it helps if I take a microwaved hot pack to bed with fewer blankets. Also, I'll wear a nightcap of sorts for warmth when I go to bed, and I take it off as I warm up.
Get your thyroid checked. There's a forum for thyroid on health unlocked. This is one of the symptoms I had.
Ask them to check for antibodies as well. It's a simple test through your GP or you can privately test (discounts available through Thyroid UK (charity).
Lots of women have it, similar symptoms to the menopause. Men do get it too but not in great numbers.
