Hi

I am due to have my first Prostab injection in just over a week, I have been told I need to have 3 injection, 1 a month to see how my overies react. I have asked for hysterectomy as I’ve had serve pain, plus extreme bleeding since I was 18. I’m now 38.

I have read about the side effects and that’s a lot to take in. What is after the pro stab injections? Any advice would be great

Hi Emma, I haven't had prostap injections but have been having Zoladex (which is very similar) for the past six months. I also got really worried when I read about side effects etc on the internet (to the point it nearly put me off starting them!) However I went ahead - trustiung in the medics - and it was the BEST thing I've done. I've had next to zero side effects, the odd hot flush only, the injection itself I hardly feel, and my symptoms have reduced massively. I've more energy, am less all over the place with my moods and if they try and stop them before my hysterectomy I will fight them for more hahah! Happy to chat further, but hope this helps a little.

Hi Exmoorllent

thank you for replying, that’s exactly how I’m feeling I wish they gave us some information to read instead of us using Google. So is the plan to having them until the op? Ive been told I only need 3 over 3 months and then will be reviewed, my first one is on Tuesday next week

Yeah, I was told I'd have three and then surgery, but that hasn't happened so I'm still on them!! They've been life changing though, with very few side effects so happy to have a few more (Have a gynae review in August) Apparently they are only licenced for short term use, but the nurse said they are often used for longer! Waiting lists eh?

Hi.. I’m on day 10 after having prostab 3 11.5mg when spotting? How long does it last for! Is it days or weeks?? Have been having a few stomache cramps but other than and spotting it’s been ok, I’ve also been given HRT but yet to take them as wanted to see how I would react without them, is this a good idea, or should I be taking them?? Sorry for all the question 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
