How long does it take for estrogen patch to take away hot flashes?

How long does it take for the estrogen patch to kick in to take away the hot flashes and feeling hot all the time? I've been on the estrogen patch (generic Estradiol 0.075mg patch for over 2 and 1/2 weeks now. I was given this because I'm having severe hot flashes due to having no estrogen because I am anorexic and therefore my pituitary won't produce estrogen in this state. The gynecologist thought that this would give me relief of my severe hot flashes within a couple weeks at the most and my endocrinologist said it would probably take more like a month.

But everything I'm reading says that everybody seems to be getting relief from hot flashes if they're going to from the patch within 2 weeks at the most especially at this high of a dose, even the pharmacist said this.

I go to the doctor again in 2 weeks so in 2 weeks I will have been on it a good 5 weeks. Has anybody else taken longer than 2 weeks for it the really from hot flashes to kick in? I'm just trying to see if this is normal or if maybe it's just taking so long because my body was having no estrogen and so for me it might take a while to get in there and turn off the hot flashes? I'm just so afraid that the patch isn't going to work for me since it's not worked in this much time... How long is too long before I would know if it's working or not? 1 month? More, less?

🤔 Like most medications..effects are probably variable person to person..that’s why advice from Specialists isn’t the same ..they generalise.

It’s possible..your diagnosis of anorexia, and the effect on your pituitary gland, is effecting the desired result. Frustratingly…it may simply be a case of having patience..and persevering....be guided by your Specialists.

🙂Best wishes

Okay thanks for your help and advice. I think it might just be bc my levels of estrogen are so low so maybe it'll take longer for me than the avg. person who's just in regular menopause. I'm supposed to go back to the gyno in 2 weeks but I'm thinking maybe I should let her know that I am still not getting any relief to see if she thinks that's normal? It's been 19 days on it so 2 and 1/2 weeks on the (0.075) estradiol patch and 200mg progesterone at night.

you really need to give it 3 months to let everything settle and for levels to build up.

Okay thanks for your help and advice. I will just continue to take the HRT( Estrogen patch) etc and tell my gyno that I still haven't gotten any relief yet.
